Tips for my new Food Saver please

I just bought the Food Saver Advanced from Costco. Would appreciate any tips on using it.

For instance, I want to seal up freshly baked chocolate chip cookies and rice crispie treats. Do they have to be flat in the bag? I don't want to use up any more of the expensive wrapping then I have to. Also, how long can I realistically expect the rice crispie treats to stay fresh if I vacuum seal them?

Also, I'd like to make a batch of jambalaya and seal it. Since it is saucy, will I have any problems?
