Never....we have more bedrooms than people.

The past 10 days ALOT! I don't like sleeping on it but end up there some nights anyway.
I sleep on the couch if I can't sleep at night. For a week our little Miss has had diarreha and wakes me up at 3-4 am to go out. Then we are on the couch incase she needs to go again.
Today is not good, I am waiting for the vet to call and let me know when to bring her in.

If DH or I get sick, one of us heads to the guest bedroom for comfort and to try to protect the other from the illness.

Never the couch. Once in a blue moon, if I'm sick and don't want to disturb DH, I'll sleep in the guest room.

I sleep on the couch every weekend....my time with the cats.LOL! I sleep in bed all week because of work so don't spend much time with the cats ...but the weekend is theirs.Also,I just got one spayed on Monday so I've been sticking around her more,the first two fays she ws sore and wanted me.....

I only sleep on the couch if I am sick during the day and need a nap. So very rarely.. maybe twice in 10 years. I do sometimes sleep in the guest room if DH is doing a lot of snoring or I am having a hard time falling asleep. Maybe twice a year I do that.

I nap on the couch - a lot. Always sleep (or at least try to!) in our bed.

Gee...guess I am the oddball of the group. Hubby and I have been married for thirty years...but we haven't "slept" in the same bed for almost half of that. He has terrible...actually that word does not even begin to justify...his sinus problem. We tried everything to help him except surgery which he refuses to go for. We also have very different sleeping patterns which I guess we never really recognised until we were in our own spaces.
We come together to cuddle etc. (yes..you know what I mean) but for sleeping through the night...no it seldom happens. When it does we both complain about what a bad nights sleep we have had.
Sorry....guess we are freaks!

I have been known to nap on the sofa but never sleep. We have a guest bedroom where we go if sick. But now the bed is covered with stuff so can't use it.

Last night I woke up at 3AM and couldn't get back to sleep so sat on the sofa and read. I took my little Dachshund out of her crate to keep me warm. We snuggled under her blanket. I probably would have fallen asleep except DH came out at 4:30 and said 'Come back to bed and you can bring the dog too.' She was in heaven, finally got to sleep between the 2 of us.

I love sleeping on the couch, and do it often. There for a while my new mattress was too firm (hard) and I ended up waking up constantly hurting, and then rolling over and then the same thing happening, over and over throughout the night. That has never happened on the couch. It is firm, yet soft enough being all foam.

I now have a new 'new' mattress, and it is more comfortable than the last one (which I did not keep for long) but it still is not as comfy as the sofa.

Daytime naps are on the couch because the dogs can jump up and nap with me if they want to. But, they can't get up on the bed without help, so they wake me up to put them in bed with me. No napping in my bed if I really need to rest.

Never. We have a guest room with a king size bed, the past week both me and DH have been sick so I've been sleeping in that room. If one of us is sick it's a good idea to sleep in separate rooms too. The couch can be opened into a bed but it's not very comfortable.

Sometimes when my back is hurting and I have to get out of my recliner. I will get on the sofa to watch TV or a movie. I 'usually' will fall asleep at some point. You get me horizontal and I'm out. LOL

When I worked 11pm to 7am shift a long time ago and had only one tv that was in the living room I slept on the couch a lot. I had a lot of trouble sleeping during the day and watching tv helped me fall asleep.
Another time was when I broke my shoulder. I couldn't get comfortable in bed. I slept on my side that wasn't hurt and propped my back and broke shoulder against the back of the couch. It was much more comfortable that way.

Never...I'll catch a few in our recliner....or put my feet up on my foot stool and nap sitting in my computer chair.

I really don't like having anyone sleep on my couch...it's over a year old, but to me it is new. I'd like to keep it like that.

A couple of times a year when DH's snoring is really, really bad. It's hard to do it during the week because there's no alarm there & I'd oversleep I'm sure. It doesn't happen often. I go to sleep before he does every night so I don't even hear him come to bed for the most part, but he does snore - a lot.

I sleep very often in one or the other of our guest rooms. I cough, wheeze, etc. - according to "some" people - so we're both more comfortable with this setup.

Couches/sofas were meant to be sat on, not slept on. Beds are made for sleeping on/in. If you're tired and want to go to sleep, go to bed. I also despise recliners. Go to bed, I say!

In recent years, I have started sleeping on the

Taigen, if you and your hubby are freaks, then so are we. We've been married for 37 years and have had our own bedrooms since shortly after we married. We just can "not" sleep together.

As for the couch, I've spent the last week there, since hubby came home from open heart surgery, so I could hear him and keep an eye on him while he slept in the recliner near me. I finally slept in my own bed last night and it sure felt good. I am not one to sleep on the couch normally.

I only sleep on the couch when I am sick, and veg out ALL DAY LONG on the couch.

I am/we are even weirder, we have two queen size beds sitting in our bedroom. Both of us sleep so much better in separate beds! :)

i sort of got in the habit when i couldn't get up the stairs after surgery...i start out in one bed, then back downstairs, and alternate between the office bed and sofa...our big humidifier is in the lr so it's much easier on the old nose...

I tried to once when I was really sick and couldn't sleep from food poisoning cramps. I felt bad for keeping Woody awake so I headed to the couch. He came and got me and brought me back to bed where he rubbed my back and soothed my poor sick self. lol Then he poked a Vicodin down my throat and in 15 minutes, I was asleep.

I only nap for a minute or 2 on the couch, and then only if a cat climbed in my lap, that makes me cozy and sleepy.

We don't even have a couch any more - love seat and two recliners. I guess I've slept in the recliner.

Occasionally for one reason or another, I find myself on the couch...we have an extra bedroom but truthfully I keep clean sheets on the bed all the time for company, and it would kill me to have to sleep on them once and have to change them. I just grab a blanket and my pillow and head for the couch.

Never. Our couch has 3 separate seats that all recline (Stressless) and it's not flat enough to sleep on. I can pull off a great nap in my recliner though (separate from the couch.) If one of us is sick we go to the guest room.

I can't remember the last time I slept on the couch. I would leave the room if DH was sick. And our dog would sleep with me. At least I wasn't "alone".

I can't sleep there for very long though because it's not as comfortable as my bed.

When I had my knee done I spent most of my days on the couch 'cause hubby was on graveyards.

Most folks sleep on a bed thousands of times without causing it any appreciable detriment ... don't they?

Sue and I had a couch/pull-out bed in our living room in Iri City, Korea - where three of the agriculturalist's family's four girls had slept when they lived with us for a few months just after our marriage (but we didn't have the couch, then). We arranged two of the girls' beds into bunk beds.

I'd slept on the couch-bed a few times when Sue or I were ill, and it was quite comfortable ... I think that I'd have been content to have slept on it for an extended period. We'd bought it from some Southern Presbyterian (i.e. Presbyterian U.S.) missionaries in a city about 12 miles away. Bruce was born, of necessity by Caesarean section, in a hospital that they ran over there, so it was fortunate that good quality medical service was available: if not, Sue, whose birth canal was way too narrow, and the little one that came to be called Bruce, would both have died.

When Sue's Mom, a teacher in Des Moines, came to visit in '62, a year before our return on furlough, we situated her in the couch/pull-out bed in the living room.

On the first morning, when she came out to breakfast I don't remember there being much discussion about the comfort of the couch but she was wondering what on earth had been going on - scurrying about above the ceiling for a substanial part of the night.

Oh, that was just the rats having a game of football (or was it baseball?).

Poor Mom-in-law was somewhat mortified.

But she did summon up courage to stay there, nights, during the rest of her stay - of about 3 weeks??

Didn't have a heck of a lot of choice, apart from giving her our bed, for there was room for both Sue and me on the couch/bed ... though we might have been able to have arranged for a bed for her at the two women missionaries' house across town, or at the agriculturalist's house, but that would have been a bit improbable, as Sue and Irene weren't the best of friends, following their sojourn at our place just after their arrival and our marriage, before their newly being-built house was ready.

The Koreans thought that Sue's Mom, probably a bit shy of 60 at the time, must have been Sue's sister, she looked so well preserved, for many Korean women in those days looked pretty old and worn, at that age.

When my same-year-arrived, first in 17 years(1) colleague had renovated the house after the mission purchased our little demonstration farm, he'd installed some lowered ceilings of veneer panelboard in some of the rooms.

Once in recent years after Bruce and I had overnighted at the agriculturalist's home in Alberta, when we came away, he said that they were nice people.

I agreed that they were really fine people, and that, as he knew, his Mom was, too ... but that they hadn't got along too well after being confined for those few months in the same small Japanese-style house, with the sliding, paper-covered doors, just after their arrival in that strange country.

I've felt sad about that - but there wasn't much alternative.

If I remember correctly, I think that I may have suggested that perhaps Sue go to Seoul to go to language school for a while ... at which she sort of bristled, saying that she hadn't come this far to get married ... and then run off to a distant city to go to language school.

Maybe it would have been better if she had!

1. During that 17 year period the world had suffered under World War II, and the much smaller Korea "Police Action" - but no less devastating for the people involved for three years.

Some missionaries of our liberal Protestant church had gone to Korea after World War II, before the Korean War, but they had not returned after the Korean War. The guy who renovated the house and I were appointed just as the war was winding down, the first two new arrivals in that 17 year period among those eight resident at that time.

Never on the couch, but a few times in the recliner when I have a bad head cold and can't breathe lying down in the bed.

Never on the couch,but sometimes in the guest room if I'm having a restless night,or as others have said if one of us has a cold.We try to not spread it to the other...after all someone has to take care of the sick partner.
We both snore,so I suppose we have just gotten use to it over the years.
If I take an afternoon nap,I also just lie on top of my bed with a warm fuzzy blanket.
Now that DH is retired we have taken a couple of naps together...ahhh the joys of getting older!

I have never slept on it during the night, but every now and then, I'll fall asleep wathing TV before bedtime.

Never.Don't have a couch anyway.LOL I have my bed and DH has his so no reason to sleep anywhere but my bed if anyone is sick.

Only if DH is vomiting (I can't stand that!!!) or if I feel too sick to sleep.

I admit, earlier in our marriage, when I was very stubborn, I'd sleep on the couch when I'd sulk after an argument. I don't do that anymore. Not worth it!

I haven't slept on the couch since I was pregnant. I love my bed so much more but I was really uncomfortable and I had restless leg syndrome (didnt know thats what it was at the time) and my skin was crawling. I was miserable in bed and for some reason felt like I could get more comfortable on the couch. Havent slept on it since though.

Almost every night! I usually wake up in my bed between 2 and 4 a.m. Get up, use the facilities,etc. I find if I go back to my bed I toss and turn forever - if I go to the couch I usually go right back to sleep.
Some nights I start in the bed, wake up and move to the couch, wake up and go back to my bed. LOL - only time it disrupts my multiple surface options is when we have company. Otherwise I jump around a lot.

DH sleeps like a log. I am the restless one. When I can't sleep I will sometimes go to the guest bed and read myself back to sleep or listen to talk radio to lull myself back to sleep. Never on the couch.
