I found out recently I'm going to be a great grandmother to triplets!!!! OMG! I'm still in shock!

I ask you to keep this young family in your special thoughts.

Granlan, who is currently saving up for a trip to Portland, Oregon to meet these babies when they're born. Due date is in August, but they will be early, I know.

Thanks, blfenton. Either you mentioned this earlier or you're the second who's testified to placing the DW back there's OK-edness. I'm relieved for the info. Palimpsest (I love that name) -- I wanted to not waste the space of the wall there, though it's true I was thinking that back before I realized how much cabinet space I really have; I think it's a lot. But my thinking was: I wanted to put a cabinet up high there, yet if the cabinets overlook the island I'll never really be able to get into them. So I was thinking they could face outwards and I could access them from the aisle. So this argues for tall ones facing outward, leaving a blank space cabinet face on the island-side that would provide wall-hanging space, something DH and I had been bemoaning the absence of, so that configuration seemed good for two reasons. Then my original thought had been to put that high cabinet there, so that went in between the long cabinets down the side and I jogged it up to match that shape from over the range. And that shape over at the range also has a difference in depth because of the hood capture area, so I decided to change that depth too to add, dunno, interest, substance, crunch? And also to try to make the whole thing less heavy-looking. And since I can't easily access those shelves I figured they'd be for showcasing itty bitty things (of which I have far too many c/o my children and grandmother as well) -- so I made that shelving narrower, thinking it would be a sort of spatial bridge between the deeper cabinets and the flat wall; I wanted to use that wall for hanging stuff but didn't want it to be cave-ified. Does this make any sense?? I thought there'd be less of a channel-feel if I made the top cabinets just 8" deep. I don't know if this will really work, so I'm all ears about your opinions! And I suppose by that argument it's possible I should consider making those cabinets 9" and 6" overhead -- I'm concerned about heaviness there.

Thanks everyone....Lakota is the only one who has/had hair.....I dont think he is going to lose it either....Chenoa was modeling like Aunt Sydney in her prom dress, and I asked Johna did she alwasy have food on her face and that was the lovely look I got...that one is a pistol. I still don't know if we get Gabe and Levi this weekend...but I am not trying to push to hard....just taking it slow.....If we don't get them this weekend I will go back one day next when Gabe and Levi are not in school.....Thanks so much CB for posting these...the internet we have now is so slow it takes forever to get pics to load and I was/am not in the mood to wait LOL.....Thanks again everyone...Oh yes and that is Kasey for those who don't remember.....Stacy

Love the quilt. I fell in love with the block when we did it as Lotto block. Despite what they said, it's wonderful! I agree with Jackier. I had a similar problem with one I made specifically for my daughter. I was so excited at how quickly I finished the top that I took it to show her, just the top before quilting it. She expounded, "I can't sleep under that!" For her tastes it was too busy and would keep her awake! Needless to say, I never quilted it and she still hasn't got a quilt from me. I took it out recently and decided I don't like it anymore either. Unfortunately, her favorite type quilt would be a solid blue, no piecing, with lots of quilting! LindaB/CA

Yep, Oregon is where Paradise begins and ends - I lived in Beaverton for a year, and fell in love with the climate, people - beauty in the landscape and people!

Even though I grew up in Long Beach, Ca. and later lived in No. California, I've never been to Oregon. I have no doubt I'll enjoy the scenery during my visit there though it will be a short stay.

Granlan, who wishes she knew how to knit..more than ever now.

Thanks everyone for the congrats and well wishes! :)

To my knowledge, there are no multiple births in the family. No fertility drugs involved either. The doc explains since the mom lost a good amount of weight last year, her hormones kicked into high gear. Hmmmm...I know a big weight gain can change your monthly cycle, so guess it makes sense.

Don't know the sex of the babies..if they choose to find out, I'll pass the news along.

OMG!!! Lana, how wonderful!!! That must be so exciting for all of you!!!
When my DS and DIL found out they were expecting twins, they immediately started shopping for necessities. By the time the babies came home from the hospital they had an attic full of diapers, wipes, etc. I can't imagine preparing for triplets! But I do know it will be fun!

That's a great idea MaryAnn. Granlan and I need to start gathering baby care packages and mail them from time to time up until Aug. This is some shocking news sinces we've not ever had multiples in the family. Keeping fingers crossed and sending prayers to Mom, Dad, Bro and big Sis.

That is awesome! I use to work with a girl who had triplets - I'll never forget going to the hospital to see her and I was allowed to go into the nursery and hold one of them. They were all healthy and went home within 2-3 weeks and are teens now.

With all these good wishes and replies, I'm feeling more excited..just wish I wasn't so far away. It's hard being a long distance grandma.

I do pray these babies won't come too early and that all will be ok. Mom and Dad already have their hands full with six year old Erin and 3 year old Colin, who was recently diagnosed with Autism. :(
