I have a friend who has lived in the same house (which they bought from the builder - i.e. they are the first and only owners of the house...) for about 25 years now and there is still absolutely nothing planted in the backyard! She and her husband could never agree on what to plant, so they didn't plant anything... All around them are houses with maturing landscapes and theirs is totally barren. Their neighbours are not amused... Oddly though, she's been the president of the local ratepayers association for years, so I guess they don't dislike her too much :-)

I once watched several small carrot plants get pulled under the ground one after another in a short period of time.Just like in the cartoons. I stomped the tunnel on either side of where the carrots were and trapped the gopher in the middle. It stuck it's head up out of a hole where a carrot used to be and a shovel was the last thing that critter ever saw.He made good fertilizer-at least the plants grew pretty good that year once he was gone. Putting the water hose in the hole doesn't work.they dig tunnels to drain rain water etc.so they know how to get away from water when they have to. A friend put a bunch of gopher gassers (poison smoke bombs) in several gopher holes then covered them with wood-as the instructions say-Halfway down the block people came running out of their house with smoke pouring out from under the house.They thaught they were on fire... He flooded his next door kniebors back yard where the gophers drain hole was too on another day.He had left the hose on all afternoon and the water was washing mud into the guys pool. Nothing like kicking back with a homebrewed beer watching someone at war with the gophers. Almost as good as watching the launch ramp follies at the lake every summer. This isn't so much a funny story as it is a success story. My boys don't potty on our regular 1 mile walks anymore. They either go before we leave or when we come home I let them out. If the walk is more than a mile, the one mile point seems to be the limit, they will have to go. So for our extra long weekend walks that is different but most of the time I don't have to pick up any of this anymore. ._-=+=-_._-=+=-_._-=+=-_._-=+=-_._-=+=-_. Ok now that is the success story, now for a disgusting story. When you have a long haired dog(s), every now and then there will be little dried doodieballs in the coat under their tail somewhere. If you don't discover this at grooming time or if they have to go potty before that then all that comes out could get stuck there in the hair and you have to wash it all out. It is nasty! Every now and then we have to do "butt checks" and take a quick whiff to make sure there's nothing hiding under the tail. What is worse is diarrhea. You have to wash that out of their coat also.

That is so funny! Quite a while ago my DD and I were in renewing our drivers licenses and jokingly said we had better start memorizing the eye chart. The woman behind us got really upset and said she had a horrible time with memorization and she left. Poor woman.
