See the bedroom I decorated for daughter's 11th bday!

My daughter's birthday is right after Christmas and she got everything she wanted so we(DH & I) decided to redecorate her room for her birthday present. We had her move out of her room 1 week prior to her bday so we could work on it and she wasn't allowed to see it till it was finished...on her birthday. You can see the pics at the following link.

Wow! What a great surprise! I'm sure she was thrilled. It turned out very chic!

On a side note, someone over on Building was looking for you a few weeks back. I believe they are going to build the same house as you had picked out...or something to that effect. Did you start building yet??

I vote for Aqua blue for the walls. The room has a lot of potential. Consider trying a new furniture arrangement. Right now the dresser is blocking the door preventing full use of the closet. The dresser is also blocking the lovely new curtains so that they don't add as much impact to the room as they could. While you have the paint brushes out maybe paint the dresser either white like in your inspiration photo or maybe another bright color taken from the curtains. The finish on the dresser has some damage to it so by painting it, you won't be "ruining" it. I hope we can see the finished 'tada' photos.

Thank you! Natesgram, the curtains were ordered from an Etsy shop - sources are listed at bottom of article. You can look it up by her name. They are lined, and can be used on a rod, but she wanted to use clip rings. it's a Waverly fabric, light weight. We actually used tableclothes for the curtain fabric in the nursery - but had them lined. They are SO heavy. But even so, she added blackout liners behind them so he sleeps better. Someone said something about the curtain rods - Target, their brand I believe. Same finish she used in nursery, but has different finials.

The photos do stay on the site (not sure how long, but some of mine from 2 yrs ago are still on there) justgotabme: She really is thrilled with it! She even invited over a newly ex-boyfriend to see it. She said she wanted to show it off. She in fact said, "I'm gonna live here forever" LOL! She's kidding though, once she's done with nursing school in a couple yrs she will be buying her own place. Then I'll get to help her decorate that!Fun Fun!

We shifted themes a little, but I am please with the way her room turned out. The walls are SW silvermist, soft enough to not scream at you when you walk down the hall, but enough color to add personality. We still have some finishing touches to do, more things to hang on the walls, and the mirror above the dresser will be hung as well. My favorite part is the message board. I found this huge framed canvas at a thrift store for six dollars, the frame is very ornate. So I covered the canvas in a pretty fabric, added twine and clothes pins. It is far from peofrssional, but we had fun doing it together. The empty spot right at her headboard will have a framed picture from her birthday party this coming weekend. Thank you all for the help.

lindybarts: Yeah I've been super busy and haven't been on here lately. Hmmm, I wonder what house he was talking about...you know I changed my plans a few times. Haven't started building, the market died so we are waiting to sell our current home till the market improves.

This was the plan Missstaceyh was going to build and she thought you had already started. I know what you mean about the market...it still stinks doesn't it? Is this the home you still might build though? I remember thinking it was so pretty.

Lindybarts: Yes, that is the home we will build however we made alot of changes to the interior but the exterior will basically look the same.

Very cute! The most interesting part for me was that my daughter is also named Callie!! I don't see that name very much!

It was alot of fun doing this room for her and I'm kind of sad that it is all done. Now 19 yr old daughter is jealous and wants to redo her room...awe another decorating project. The only problem is she doesn't want hers done as a birthday present, she just wants it done just because. UGH! Well now I'll have another room to start planning for, oh and a kitchen to redo.
