Suggest looking at pinterest and houzz with your daughter to get visuals of what she likes

I would think that white or gray painted furniture, with maybe a nightstand or dresser in teal. Add crystal knobs. A big mirror with an ornate frame. I would look at an ivory comforter with teal and coral pillows and a throw.

I would not paint the walls teal. Maybe the coral if it looks good with he carpeting and woodwork.

This would be a great project to help your daughter learn about internet research, budgeting, math. (how much paint is needed) and organizing a project time line.

since you mentioned "bling" and "budget" i'd recommend the place i got my daughter's blingy chandelier for her nursery. i'll be buying from them again for our new house... link below.

My daughter has an antique iron bed and I painted some pretty dressers for her room, but they look more cottage shabby chic then French ooh la la. You can get the same effect though maybe by using a higher gloss paint to paint furniture with pretty European lines and getting a used iron bed on CL and painting it black or white.

There was a mom on GW, valinsv, who redid a room for her daughter and I seem to recall she bought a used iron daybed and painted used nightstands and a dresser a pretty turquoise color. It sounds similar to what your daughter might want. I found one post by doing a Google search and you might find more posts by searching the GW user's name.

Do you live near an HFH Restore? I'd try to find a used metal chandelier, and let her redesign it. She could use her favorite colors, beads, crystals, etc., then use those colors else where in the room.

oh! are you near a hobby lobby? i was just there tonight and they had an entire aisle filled with coral and turquoise in a ooh la la type theme. :) mostly decorative stuff... a lot of shadow boxes, bulletin boards - all things that would be great in a 12 year old girl's room and in her colors!

Thank you everybody, I found a metal bed on Craigslist for $40! It isn't as old and worn as I had hoped, but I think I can work with it. I also found an old crystal chandelier for 50, and a set of four chairs for me for $60! It was a good craigslist day! I am heading to hobby lobby tomorrow to get some scrapbook papers, they are half price this week and I am going to midge podge her desk. I will look at the other decor while I am there. I am also going on a mission tomorrow to find wallpaper for an accent wall. I hope to be able to put it all together this weekend, I will post a picture when done. Thank you so much for the help.

You did good! If possible I would try to find another iron bed (paint it white to match the other one), so when she has a girlfriend sleep over there will be enough room.

Twin beds do great in small rooms, especially with the bedding being identical.

My personal taste would be to nix the teals and corals if she wants a shabby look. With the room being on the small side I'd go with softer colors to make the room look larger.

However, maybe choosing coral as an accent color (not walls) would be kind of pretty mixed with white.

Google Marie Antoinette decorating for inspiration. Those colors are used a lot, but more in muted tones than bright, in your face tones. Also check Pinterest for Marie Antoinette Party-loads of inspiration.

This is a cute idea for the chandy-use ribbons in those colors instead of what they used here.

I am redoing my daughters bedroom and I painted her room Benjamin moore Jamaican Aqua color. It's lighter than turquoise, but in the same family. It's great for a small room. My girls picked out some accessories at ikea including a $10 lamp (shown in photo), $17 turquoise shelf ("lack" wall shelf #302.517.04) and $6 canvas bins .

Ikea also has a shelving unit in turquoise for $90 (expedit, #202.555.90). Ikea "besta" units also come in a less vibrant teal color. And I was also looking at an accessories cart, Raskig #302.165.36 which is $50. Some of these may be holiday gifts.

Also, great ideas in pottery barn teen catalog but pricey.

I also ordered a personalized decal of my daughter's name, in a very fancy font. You can order it in any color you like. I bought from seller LCvinyldesigns on Etsy. The name decal is about 12" tall and looks awesome. Photo shows one letter of name decal on Ben moores tropicana cabana (used as accent on one small strip) and Jamaican Aqua color below.

We shifted themes a little, but I am please with the way her room turned out. The walls are SW silvermist, soft enough to not scream at you when you walk down the hall, but enough color to add personality. We still have some finishing touches to do, more things to hang on the walls, and the mirror above the dresser will be hung as well. My favorite part is the message board. I found this huge framed canvas at a thrift store for six dollars, the frame is very ornate. So I covered the canvas in a pretty fabric, added twine and clothes pins. It is far from peofrssional, but we had fun doing it together. The empty spot right at her headboard will have a framed picture from her birthday party this coming weekend.
