Another is chocolate creme pie with a meringue crust...if you make a really good chocolate cream!
I don't know either...seems like it would be girly....but "lemon meringue like grandma made" seems to be a favorite with men.

I love lemon meringue pie. My mother made the best. (MY grandmother didn't make pies, except pizza pies.)

I love lemon loaf, good lemon squares and I really love lemonade. If lemon loaf and lemon squares were put in front of me and I were asked to decide, I'd go with the lemon meringue pie. Mostly because I haven't had too many bad lemon meringue pies but I've had way too many bad or tastless lemon loaves and lemon squares. (Lemon meringue pie and lemonade don't fit in the same category, so I couldn't judge. Maybe I'd have both.)

If lemon meringue pie were put in front of me along with tiramisu, pineapple pie, chocolate-chip apple cake, French silk pie, chocolate-cherry mascarpone bundt cake and cannolis, I'd pick ANY of the others before the lmp.

It's so funny that you bring this up. I've been in a baking mood lately so offered to make my brother & his family whatever he wanted. Lemon Meringue Pie was his first request. I had no idea that was his favorite until a week or so ago! Go figure -

Same here. In my experiences it has been lemon meringue, banana or coconut cream or chocolate silk. Those seem kind of frilly to me!

A patient where I used to work brought in fresh homemade lemon pies with a whipped cream topping...all the time! He was a terrific pie maker and baker, not his wife.

Not so with my DH. He will eat it if I make it, but it is not one of his favorites. Apple pie is! I love lemon meringue pie or anything lemon. We have two lemon trees so always looking for something to make with them. Maybe after 23 years he is all lemon out. LOL

No, not at all. Aptosca, my DH is on the same boat with your DH. Apple pie is his all time, hands down, absolute favorite. He loves making it, and eating it, and will make a chocolate meringue pie for me, almost reluctantly, to make me happy. I was reading a novel once that took place in rural eastern Colorado during WWII, and one of the main characters was a farm wife who made apple pies for the men, because apple pie was a man's favorite pie.

If my DH wants a citrus based pie, he'll choose Key Lime pie over lemon meringue. He just likes lime better than lemon. I love lemon stuff, myself.

Lemon meringue was my Dad's favorite pie. My DH and DS want chocolate cream pie in a pie crust with meringue on top. My favorite would be coconut meringue!

Not for my DH! Doesn't like much of anything citrus.

He'll choose Apple, Peach, Berry, Chocolate or nothing over lemon.

I love lemon anything (as long as it's well done), however, I don't like meringue so often skip the pie or scrape it off. I'd rather have real whipped cream on mine!

Hmmm.....I have some lemons and haven't made my EX's grandmother's Lemon Bars in a long, long time!!
I may have to dig out the recipe! They were so good. She never used a recipe for anything so when I was trying to figure it out, I had to stand in the kitchen with her and slow her down to guess/estimate the quantities of the ingredients! LOL I came pretty close.

My parents were some sort of volunteers for the Coast Guard before my dad joined the Navy to avoid being drafted into the Army (WWII). For as long as my mother lived she loved to brag that the "boys" in the Coast Guard loved her lemon meringue pie and frequently contributed sugar and whatever other ingredients were needed so she would bake one for them. They never wanted any other flavor of pie.

My husband wouldn't touch lemon meringue pie with a 10 food pole. But I love it.

I do have a (male) cousin who like LMP, but I had an uncle who had to have his lemon pie with 2 crusts--necessitating my dad making BOTH kinds of lemon pie every Thanksgiving, because he always made sure everyone had their absolute favorite pie for dessert (we often had 16-18 pies around the house on TG)

Lemon meringue pie is one of my favorites and my office staff makes me lemon bars for my birthday instead of cake. I double the lemon in Marilyn's Lemon Brownies and love Dishesdone's lemon custard cakes. I'm not so wild about lemonade, LOL.

Elery would much prefer nearly anything, his favorite dessert is blackberry cobbler and he'd eat blackberry pie before nearly any other kind. He likes blueberry too but he really doesn't eat very many sweets of any type. He'd save his calories for anything that resembles bread.
