I actually like the pendants in the first photo better than the second. The art glass (?) pendants seem to compete in color/tone with your counters and cabs, which are warm and caramel-like.
I know that your walls and trim appear to match the second photo's pendants but the 1st just look warmer and "homier" to me.
Then again, I like warm metal pendants so I could be biased!!

Don't beat yourself about these things. It's so hard to follow your vision, pick things out, and have them turn out the way you saw them in your mind's eye. FWIW, I too prefer the fixture with the ORB metal work to the art glass shades. Is that what you had originally, or is that the new pendant?

I'm not really clear on which is which: the 'flower' looking ones are kind of 'boudiour' to me-- attractive, but too sensous for the kitchen.

Regardless, is there a spot in your home you could use the existing pendants, replace them with whichever you prefer in the kitchen?

And have you tried online suppliers? I've bought all my lighting [new house] online because I can see more, more quickly than chasing around to local light stores. Plus, I can have multiple 'possibles' open at the same time for comparison.

I prefer the metal finish on the ones that look like milk glass globes. I agree that the art glass blend with your wall color but your cabs and granite appear to be warm and the first ones match that better. There are online sites that have TONS of colored glass pendants WITH the ORB metal finish. I've bought some lighting from Bellacor and they had top quality pieces at good prices.

Oh- your not alone! I,ve already bought and returned 3 sets of pendant lights for my kitchen- and still can't find ones that I like. Sorry I can't give an opinion, I can't view th photos at work.

I also prefer the ones in the first photo.

We've been having the same problem trying to find pendants for the kitchen and a chandelier for the DR. I just don't like 99% of what I see out there!

My KD even made the comment that she thinks that most lighting is downright ugly...she even made an off-hand comment that maybe it's time for her to go into lighting design (designing fixtures)!

I think the art glass ones are really cool, but the pattern is too busy with your granite, IMO. And you'll have a more limited color choice down the road if you decide to repaint the kitchen.

I have to say the top ORB and frosted glass look FABULOUS!

I guess I should break it to him gently.The first photo is the one I had him install first. They have regular voltage what is it 120 amps. The second one is the one I made him install because of the color. I thought it would make the kitchen look more put together.Being that I have stainless steel appliances and the knobs I am probably getting are going to be in that color line, pewter.....I thought the orb would not match. So I made him put in the white and burgundy ones. The bad part is they are low voltage and he had to change the wiring. Now I think he will kill me when I say I liked the first ones better. This kitchen is killing me....Thanks everyone for the support to do what I know what I have to do.

Sort of similar, we gutted our kitchen, and DH said where do you want the chandelier cuz wherever it goes it's permanent - it's NOT moving... well, lo and behold, once we have walls in, ceiling up, furniture in... it's SO obvious chandelier should be moved perhaps a foot off centre (we had centred it). Amazingly DH is OK with this, and has come up with his own solution to mask the hole. He's planning on finding one of those plaster ceiling medallions, and figures if we get one big enough, it should cover the 'oops' hole.

All part of the process, and one of those stories that you can laugh about...eventually :>)

I agree with remodelfla. Use the Internet for lighting shopping! I looked at hundreds of pendants one evening and found exactly what I wanted. I found nothing in our local stores. In our new home, they are my favorite lights.

When I left for work yesterday morning I left the first pendent on the counter under the new pendents. When I came home my husband was there. we were sitting on the couch unwinding and he said, "When are you going to tell me you want to switch out the pendents"? What a man. He is doing it tonight. To think I was upset and was thinking maybe I should live with them. Thanks for the help.
