Comments (16)What a lovely plaque! Megan is very beautiful. Seeing her picture makes knowing you lost her all the more sorrowful. I am so very sorry for your loss. You know, it is hard to come up with ideas without knowing Megan so I went online to see if I could find anything and found your photo albums on Webshots. Boy, she was a pretty and vivacious girl and very artistic! I can fully understand why you want her place to be very, very special. I found the picture of her headstone, here it is ... I like nanagrandma's idea of the arbor. The stone looks almost black so I think a black metal arbor would be gorgeous with pink roses growing over her headstone. Maybe attach a mailbox to it for the messages like twomonths suggested. You could make color copies of some of her artwork and decoupage it on the mailbox. You could hang small things from the arbor like little angel ornaments, pictures of family and pets and windchimes (maybe a cow or two) too. Depending upon how much room you have for planting, you could even make glass totems on top of a bud vase placed over some rebar pounded into the ground. It could be made of pink and blue glass pieces. That way it would be off the ground and making it easier for grass cutting. I think once you start putting things together, it will give you greater comfort knowing you are keeping her memory alive and staying close to her. Just spending time with her, planting flowers, will help. I really like your idea of making her place something special and uniquely hers....See MoreHood design dilemma - kitchen designers please help
Comments (13)Holly are you saying i have to replace all of the crown in the kitchen? I am not trying to save anything between the 2 windows where the range area is currently. I am ok with the expense and have already gotten the quotes from the cab company and for the modernaire hood insert. But for the cost I want to be sure want to be sure about not using the vv96 in that area and the staggered cabs. I know what I have is really nice, it is just not what I want....See MoreSecond try, please help me find inspiration photo
Comments (14)This is still not it, darn!! In my photo the part where the fireplace juts out into the room is the only area that is painted aqua - or maybe a softer robins egg. The large piece in my room is dark- a chocolate brown sofa which if you picture, aqua walls, dark gray mantel, brown sofa - it just doesn't sound great, yet there was something in my picture that pulled it all together. Maybe it was the color of the other walls, fireplace surround, chairs??? I don't know, but as I said, I just can't remember why but it spoke to me, and it wasn't something you would see in anyone else's room (except obviously the one in the pic). It began when I saw a pic similar to the one you posted, with a black mantel. Wanting to do something other than the predictable white mantel, but concerned the black would be "too" much with the brown I considered a darker gray - then I saw the pic and I realized it was doable. "My bad" for losing the darn thing. Over the last few years the mags I have received that I might have torn a page out of are, Family Circle, Womans Day, Good Housekeeping and possibly Southern Living/Accents but I have searched their web sites with no success. I have to put it out of my mind for now, and the FP mantel won't be sprayed in the next few weeks, but I do appreciate everyone's efforts. Comments (1)You're right in that this site can be a great resource! One of the best is the Finished Kitchen Blog, created and maintained by one of the members, starpooh. Go check it out for inspiration: I've put the link below. Also, only one of your pics were accessable to me and it was the one with the fridge and showing what looks to be the dining room in the background. Do you like the colors in the rest of the house? What colors or styles are you attracted to? It looks like you have a good base to begin with: white cabinets, fairly neutral floor and countertop. I'm sure it will be fun making it your own! Also, there is a thread here called "New to GardenWeb?" that you can read for lots of tips on getting advise, posting pictures, etc. I'll go look for it now so that it is on page 1 for sure. Congratulations on the new home purchase and welcome to GW! Sandy Here is a link that might be useful: Fisnished Kitchen Blog...See Moredoc5md
