What did you do for Valentines Day?

We didn't do anything! Our daughter had a dance, so it really restricted us. We're going out this weekend. He did bring Valentine flowers home Wednesday, though!

I took my DH to his physical therapy, then took him to work, came home cleaned up and then went to pick DH up from work, came home and watched tv and surfed the net. My DH got hurt on the job two weeks ago and is not able to do alot at this time so we agreed not to do anything except send email cards to each other.

We spent the evening with family at a restraunt.It was nice. Today is DD 14th birthday so she not only got Valentines gifts last night but birthday as well. It was nice. There were 10 of us.

Hi-- all I just wanted to apoligize for not posting/ getting my package out on time and not communicating well. Tina - I'm so glad your DH is doing better! It's heartwarming to know that love like yours lives today. I vow to stay off the trades for a while as I think I've bitten off too much for me to chew for a while. My apoligies to snyder and gardeningmom - I've been sick with morning sickness, had to leave my job, when I signed up for the trade I thought it would be over by the time the trade began and as it turns out I'm one of the lucky 10-20% who have it for the duration of the pregnancy. Anyway, it's kind of thrown me for a loop along with all the normal chaos of life. I feel just awful for being a bad trader -- I did send -- but not like I normally would (on time, etc.) no more swaps for me for a while - as I don't like to keep you all waiting and wondering. Snyder thanks again for the wonderful package- I'm sorry for not acknowledging you publicly here on the board until just now. Thanks to all my gardening friends and please accept my apoligies for the lateness, and troubles communicating. Hope to trade with you all soon again - once life isn't so chaotic.

Sue: After reading your latest post about your husband never doing things for you on Vday or your birthday, I just had to post about what my then husband did one year. All the guys he worked with were talking about what they were getting their wives for Vday, and when he said "nothing", they started in on him. They embarrassed him so much that on Vday, he brought me a box of chocolate covered cherries. He went to work and very proudly told the guys. He should have just shut his mouth but he had to 'brag' that the candy did double-duty as it was also for my birthday on the 15th. They razzed him for a long time over his cheapness. It was the ONLY time though that he ever got me anything for either day. Ahem, do you think that might be part of the reason he's my ex? lol Shirley

On her birthday I was going to make a cake for Jan, basically because I wanted to play around at decorating a cake, but she shot that idea down saying it wasn't on her diet... Well diet be damned, I am gonna make her a valentines cake complete with red roses on it, and if she don't like it, I guess I will have to eat it to,,,,but I am going to make it anyway.

LOL, 2many, I think Sriracha tastes like vinegar and hot peppers, but can't taste any other flavors. I'm a wimp, I like just a little heat but I don't want the enamel on my teeth to bubble. I think if it's so hot I can't enjoy the flavors of the food, it's kind of pointless, but Elery loves heat, the hotter the better. That is one mean looking panty liner, BTW. (grin) Sleevendog, I found a similar potato in my storage: I left it propped up on the counter for Elery to find and he didn't even notice it, LOL. So much for that Valentine's Day thought! Thanks for the sriracha tip on hummus, Elery would love that. I suppose I could just mix it in at the end, so the entire batch isn't "contaminated"? (snicker) AnnT, the steak looks delicious, as always, and although I don't care for very many hot chilies I love peppercorns. It's a different kind of heat. Annie

My sweetie, DH, bowls on Wed and Thurs nights, so he took me out for supper on Tuesday night. He sent me a dozen yellow roses at work.

My DH and I have a fun tradition - we go into "town" for the weekend. We live in a suburb of Boston, but we spend Sat night after V-day in a hotel downtown, and pretend we're tourists. Usually we see a play or the ballet, and just walk around city neighborhoods(weather permitting) - its wonderful. After a nice Sunday brunch we go home, 10 minutes, but we feel like it was a vacation. This is a combo Valentines Birthday treat since my birthday is two weeks before. Its also good because we usually don't have to compete with Valentines day reservations.

We had two Valentine's dinners. On the day itself, DH prepared me a wonderful dinner at home from a cookbook we got in Williamsburg that has recipies from the historic taverns there. On Saturday, I took him to dinner at a wonderful restaurant/inn we've been meaning to get to for a while.
