Heading in to the Chicago area to spend a weekend with my son and his family....and to see my grand son march in the Laborday Parade....with his trombone!..

Sounds like a fun weekend for you, San!

And Linda, have a wonderful time with your kids and grandkids!

We have mellow, back to school stuff to do this weekend. A cookout or two, some beach time, then shopping. I hate shopping.

AM

Good luck on the croquet course, San! I'm rooting for you!

Enjoy the visit, Linda.

Arabella, a cookout and some beach time sounds so wonderful to me! Enjoy.

Nothing planned here - quiet weekend for us but that's okay, its welcomed!

CLINK everyboy - its TGIFriday on a 3 day weekend! YAY!

TGIF, all!. Today I'm on my way to the eye doc, then home to pick beans and put up no hunting signs (grouse season starts this weekend and last year some idiot shot my cat...grrrr). Tomorrow is a half day at work and then absolutely nothing planned for the rest of the weekend...I'm really looking forward to spending Sunday/Monday at home. Will probably can some beans, clean the house and plan food for the next couple of weeks.....it's workshop/conference/meeting season, so I won't be home much in the next month.

Have a good long weekend, everyone....stay safe out there. ~Clink!~

I'm here, I'm here.

San I'm BETTING big money on you so you better win (grin, j/k).

Yeah Arabella I can't wait for kids to go back to school. Then again, no sleeping in for me - up at 5:30 everyday!

Katie, go get those hunters. Bag one for me, will you?

I've been mostly lurking here and trying to keep up with birthdays....getting kids ready for school and doing more shuttling/shopping than cooking/surfing. I still have to finish my Hawaii blog! High Holidays are right around the corner and I'll probably just make the old standbys. Things will settle down for me....beginning of November!!!!

Is this Labor Day weekend? When did that sneak up on me?

Yay Labour Day weekend...means that all those nasty wakeboarders will be gone for another year! I'm already up at the cottage, came up this AM. Clive will be coming up after work. Poor guy in all that crappy traffic while I wait for him on the dock with a tall cold one!

No company, no kids but Doug and Sara are up and there will be lots happening on this last official summer weekend.

Happy weekend everyone!

I can't believe it's Labor Day already! Where did my summer go? We have one more week until the kids return to school, but we're crazy busy getting the new building ready.
On the home front I think we're busy Sat, Sun and Mon.but not certain what and when. I'm trying to have dinner here on two nights but people's schedule's and life seem to be
throwing a curve ball to my schedule. Some bbq'ing etc will definitely take place.
It's hot as h@ll here, so we'll turn the pool heater on and take a dip too.
Go San! I want to see you with the crown in that wheelbarrow again!

TGIF to all* clink with some cool iced tea!

Busy weekend ahead! It's my mom's 90th birthday and we are having a party to celebrate. The entire family is coming in. We are having a party for her on Sunday evening at a very nice restaurant.

My older son is already here. He is the kind of person who has to be doing something every moment. Yesterday I took the day off and we (two sons and me)went to the National Constitution Center and then on to the Reading Terminal Market for lunch (cheesesteaks wit wiz).

I'm in the office today trying to wrap up some stuff, but having a hard time concentrating. The sons are off to NJ to hit the beach and the casino. Mom and I gave them money to buy Mega Millions lottery tickets, so look for us on the news.

The rest of the fam damily arrives tomorrow and leaves Monday, except my brother who will spend the week visiting with Mom. I get to be "Julie Your Cruise Director" and keep everyone moving in the right direction.

Thank goodness the weather is supposed to be gorgeous,so we can be outside. The room I reserved for the party has an outdoor patio, so it should be nice.

A fun weekend ahead but I will be tired when it's over!

Have a good one, everybody and be safe.

The rest of the fam damily

ROFL, Pam.

Busy, busy, everybody...well, most.

San, go get 'im. My money's on you too.

My lurking/posting here has become very sporadic, at best, but I did notice I've missed quite a few birthdays this past week. I hope everybody is still celebrating this weekend. Happy birthday to all!

The kids went back to school Wednesday. I'm tired already from the new routine. Jess, I got ya beat...up at 4:20. Three kids in three different schools. I know I'm not alone, but does everybody else think there should be at least 8 more hours in the day (for sleeping, of course)?

Lots of kids' sports planned for the weekend and a cookout. Dinner with my brother and his family tomorrow night.

Tonight, though, I'm going to try to talk Bob into buying the perfect house I found. It's not going to be easy. It's a great deal, but he's cheap.

So, on my way home, I have to stop at the liquor store and Victoria Secret's. What can I say, I can be cheap too! LOL ;)

*Clink* Be safe!

even if you don't post here, i always think this is such an interesting thread to read!

YAY! 76 trombones lead the big parade! i love it and am sure you will too, linda! and yeah--it is the start of the school season, isn't it? sorry to hear about your shopping, AM. if it can't be found in homegoods, catalogues are the only way to go as far as i'm concerned :) and woodie--congrats on the quiet weekend. i think you've probably earned that!

oh katie--best wishes to you and everyone's pets. hard to believe things like that ever happen...and jessica--i always figured you didn't go to bed until 5:30! tough schedule and i hope you actually had a little down time. in hawaii? sounds fabulous to me!

i'm sure you'll really enjoy your time with doug and sara, chase. and while i'm not sure what a wakeboarder is, for your sake i'm glad they are packing up! now ellen i just HAVE to ask: what temp do you hope to get the pool water to? i'm really curious about that! and best wishes with the upcoming school year!

and a 90th birthday party for your mom, pam? how absolutely wonderful that she's up for it and your family can be there for the celebration! i'd love to hear what the birthday girl wants for her special day! i just had the chance to see my 90-year old father thoroughly enjoy 3 lobsters. i was impressed!

now lori--you can't hit and run like that! first, what grabbed you about that house? and what treats did you find at victoria's secret??? inquiring minds wanna know these things!

and thanx for the cheers but i hope no one has bet the farm! it's been a great season so far and the standings are 14 to 14! it's anyone's guess how it'll end up but we'll know soon enough :)

Hope you retain that crown San--
Good luck to everyone trying to finish up school shopping-- don't envy you one bit!
Enjoy the parade & grandkids Linda.
And good luck with your signs Katie-- too many so called hunters out there that shoot at anything that moves-- I worry for Hubby & the boys the whole 6 wks from mid Oct to end of dec.

Happy Birthday to everyone I missed---

I'm with San, Sharon-- just what is a wakeboarder? Noisy in the morning are they?

Hang in there Pam-- they'll leave soon-- give Mom an extra hug from me -- 90 sure deserves all the hugs she can get.

Tomorrow we'v got to finish some yard work , I've got to finish some canning & run a "care package" over to GS Corey who's moving with a couple buddies into his own apartment and hit Gramma up for odd dishes, linens and did a quick raid in her pantry ! Darn doesn't seem as if he's old enough for his own place !

Sunday we've a Pig Roast to attend -- Monday a family BBQ--

Have a great weekend everyone-- and a safe one !

San, I've got my money on you to retain your crown. Can't wait to hear.....

Remember water skiing? Many of the kids are into wake boarding now instead of skiing. A wake board is a special board that you stand on while using a tow rope behind a boat, instead of skis, they do all kinds of jumps, spins and tricks using the wake from the boat. It's big around here too.

Pam, have fun celebrating your DM's 90th. In 3 yrs I hope to be having a party for my DM's 90th. Notice I said hope, you never know... but it's great when they make it to 90.

Woodie, enjoy the quiet weekend. I think you have had a very busy summer. Nice to just be home.

Jessy and other's with kids who are getting ready to go back to school....enjoy, before you know it, these kids are all grown and you look back at the memories.

No big plans here, I just want to enjoy. I work on Sunday but am off tomorrow and Monday. The garden club is having their big plant sale tomorrow, so we are going to get up and see if we can find any goodies. There's also another craft show going on, so will probably stop for that too. Then who knows.....may have to plant perennials if we get any. I have salsa to can at some point.

Nancy

Hi all! Quiet weekend for us! then it's back to school. I don't go back untilt he 10th so that will be nice to have a little quiet time :) Spent all day and evening shopping with Jodie for back to school. With my friend and her daughter, TWO THIRTEEN YEAR OLD GIRLS! They have more shopping stamina than we do! They were good sports about Sur La Table and Crate and Barrel, but then the rest of the day. it was all about them :) They had a blast. My feet hurt. I've had my hands scrubbed with Israeli sea salt and scrub at Sabon at the mall, we hit the makeup counter, every clothing store in two different malls, had a great lunch out! All in all, I'm pooped, the kid is extremely happy with her haul and I did ok for myself, too! It was a nice girls day out today!

San, my money's on you, too! Is the wheelbarrow ready?

Nancy, enjoy your days off!

Woodie and Katie, enjoy the quiet! It's nice to stay home! I'm also looking forward to a nice quiet weekend!

Lori, 4:20AM? I couldn't do it!As it is I have to set two alarms for 6am :)

Diane, a pig roast and a bbq, sounds like a great weekend!

Pam, Happy Birthday to your mom!

Ellen, enjoy your BBQing, I'm wondering the same thing, where'd the summer go? It flew by!

Chase, enjoy your last official summer weekend! I hate to see the summer go by so fast!

AM, I don't like back to school shopping either. The places were packed! I don't mind the kitchen stores though, LOL!

Linda, enjoy the parade with your grandson. Larry used to go and take Adam, they canceled the NYC one this year!

Jessy, I don't know how you do it, always on the go!
