Chalk up another forum meeting!

We had the pleasure of meeting Terri_pacnw!! DH and I were traveling around Washington state and had the opportunity to ambush Terri! Thanks to a friendly local we were able to give her a call and with no warning she and her handsome DH dropped what they were doing and came over to Starbucks for some java and chat! She's a sweetie and after about an hour and a half we had to tear ourselves away to head out to our lodging in the next town.

Thanks Terri, it was fun!

Awesome picture! Good to 'meet' you Terri and Ellen you look fantastic!

I think it's so wonderful that we can just travel around with our families and call someone up that we 'know' lives in the area. It's so exciting to meet with them and really visit face to face.

Hi all! I'm Michelle from Saskatchewan and I'm very new to this forum. Started out searching on the computer for hosta problems and like somebody else said was always directed to this site. For two weeks I just read what people posted and then I decided it was time to join. Everybody on here has been so helpful to me, because I had or maybe still have the dreaded HVX virus. Very disheartening. I've always liked gardening somewhat but was mainly annuals in containers. I have pine trees in my yard and never knew what to do there. We dug a pond and what do you do with all the extra dirt?? Shoved it under the pine trees and decided to make flower beds. That was maybe four years ago. Hostas caught my eye and I bought a few and some ferns and coral bells etc. The hostas have now taken over my life as I can't get enough. I was the kind of person that just bought what looked good at box stores and nurseries here. Now that I caught the darn HVX I will not do that anymore. I am into the collecting of different names now even though I have MANY with no names from the start. I have also learned on here that in my Zone I can plant more hostas in the sun. Annie posted about squishiness and hard to plant far apart, well I am kind of like her too. Ive planted small hostas too close to one another and as they get more mature its obvious I have to move to a new location. Ahhh but its so much fun. I have over 250 hostas in my backyard and still growing with new varieties and hostas I don't have which is many. Love the hostas, love the forum and all the friendly people that have given me great advice.

Jeff Hagen is an international man of mystery and a tropical fruits genius all at the same time. He even buys books on how to prune big ol mango trees right at the hip notch. He knows how to graft little sprigs (not kidding here) and big branches due to practice practice practice, the same way you get to Carnegie Hall (old joke) He lives in the same humble burg as me (Tamarac Fl) but cannot devote the time he wishes he could to tropical fruits because he is busy coding coding coding as in writing computer code, to earn his family's daily bread. He is married to Elsy who is his equal in tropical fruits. They both tend to their mini-nursery and mini-grove with five large mango trees, canistel, lychee, big joboticaba tree, persimmons, lemon drop mangosteen, carambola, jackfruit, muchos papaya and banana and plantain which are so weed like invasive and easy to grow. Lots more stuff like Cherimoya and Sugar Apple but.... I have bought mango trees from Jeff so I am not impartial. Jeff would not write this so I did My knowledge of tropical fruits took a quantum leap when I met Elsy and Jeff last summer and bought a Nam Doc Mai and Pim Sen Mun that Jeff grafted

With all due respect, ncrealestateguy, considering the definition of a troll, that is somewhat redundant. ;-) I will grant you that it was less than kind for me to tweak him like that, and it is true that his lack of manners does not justify ours. At the same time, if he is not made aware of how he comes across, how can he (hopefully) correct his behavior? Perhaps he was born in a different culture - that would be easier to let slide. Yet even then, he still would need to learn how to assimilate & he doesn't come across as the type of person who will accept a singular gentle correction - more like a plurality of bluntness - maybe. :-D At any rate, moving on to a more constructive line of thought, I not only do *not* disagree with your opinion about internet business for PB's, I would assert that it is already happening currently since I have been able to communicate successfully with at least one online about our interest. But note that this part is about the potential customer seeking out the PB who has put his internet shingle out rather than vice versa. The one point where we seem to differ is on the suggestion that good PB's are going to be cruising help wanted boards looking for pool jobs. If you want to grow your business, you are going to target the areas that will make the most of your advertising time & dollars rather than trying to hit up every possible avenue - because not many have that kind of time & money to spend with so little potential return on investment. Even if internet usage on that point changes in the future, it still seems on par with putting an ad in the paper - I can't see most people being willing to hire someone for a job like this based on who responded to their ad. There will always be those who prefer to go as cheaply as possible and cross their fingers, but I believe most of us would rather seek out the best and the brightest to increase our prospects for a quality job with greater longevity.

OK....Let's ALL agree on Vegas. West Coasters go east to Nevada, East Coasters go west to Nevada. CHEAP flights always to be found, driving is not bad either. GREAT restaurants (all price ranges, and anything you can imagine). So many endless hotel deals. Amazing shopping. Vegas shows are legendary. Gambling for those who like like it (I lose $5 and I am mad, LOL). Maybe we could even do it this summer!! SUMMER 2016 Laundry Room Las Vegas meet up. I am seriously dying to meet all of you, give everyone a big hug (kiss a few of you ;) and just laugh and enjoy everyone!!

I also met up with Terri, a few years ago, and it was definitely one of the highlights of our trip to the Pacific Northwest! She's a lovely, friendly, generous person!

I know Jessy..I am getting popular...I'd like to think it's me..but really I just happen to live in a great place that people want to come visit..

It was really fun to meet Ellen and Hubby! And I was in the middle of dinner for the boys...so I got them situated and hubby joined me.

And it seems that I am quite the person..because not only did a person in Starbucks know hubby and I, but so did some one on the ferry/or boat tour...
Is that Twilight Zone music I hear?????

How wonderful that you got to meet! I had a chance to meet Ellen a while back but I totally screwed up and missed her. Welll, one of these days.

I do hope to see the Pacific NW some day and I'll definitely be calling on you, Terri.

I have heard that Starbucks has a gluten free something or other..but I never investigated it...
