Sorry I missed your birthday, but I was not on the computer last week-end - I was having lobster in your honor! Thanks again for all the birthday wishes. I had a really nice day. My birthday dinner was a joint effort, Kim made great salads (I made the dressing), then we had lobster, scallops and shrimp in a wine sauce over angel hair pasta. Instead of a cake, I made cream filled chocolate cupcakes with chocolate icing and even put white loops on top. I am thankful for all the good in my life. Nancy

Thank you all very very much for the wonderful birthday wishes! We actually celebrated yesterday, at Cascade Lake in Carroll County MD. My sister & her BF, SIL, brother, mother, DH and our 4 kids had a wonderful picnic with lots of gourmet goodies and delicious Popeye's chicken for lunch. DM made her classic Poor Man Pound Cake for my birthday cake. The kids enjoyed swimming in the lake and we rented out some paddleboats and got a little fishing in. Thankfully it was a beatiful day for it. Today I went to Lotte and picked up the ingredients and equipment need to make my very first Kim Bop sushi. It was my first time making it, and it turned out pretty tasty. I tested it on my Korean neighbor/friend and she said it was better than lots of Koreans make. LOL, I'm sure she's just being kind. But two of my kiddies love it, and it's nutritious, so I plan to make it lots. Tomorrow is the kids first day of school, so we're going to relax tonight and get ready, plus watch the closing ceremonies of the Olympics. DH was laid off about a month ago, but hopefully he'll get a new job this week. He has several offers on the table and pending. I'll post pics later of my Kim Bop for anyone who's interested. Nancy

Thank you, everyone! It's the big 4-0, lol. I've decided to go to the animal shelter and get a calico or tortie cat for my birthday present :)
We had a birthday celebration on Saturday and had wonderful steamed mussels by my MIL/FIL, crabcakes, filet mignon steaks, a gourmet cheese platter by my DS, fresh veggies with 2 fantastic dips by my SIL, Chickpea and Bronconcinni salad & coleslaw by my DM, Insalata Caprese, Key Lime Pie and Strawberry cheesecake by Costco (since no one volunteered to make my dessert), mojitos, etc. It was a fun time, despite the rain.

Excellent idea to get a shelter kitty for your birthday. We have three rescues and they are the best.

I am so excited. She's about 2, and has 6 toes on her front paws. We can't decide about her name, but I'm thinking Mitzi, short for Mittins, based on her paw shape.

Ann, that's funny about the name. I can't believe I spelled Mittens wrong. I was very tired yesterday. So I think the kids have decided that she is to be Mitzi. She is such a sweet kitty. I'm so glad to have her. And haha at Lou :) Sally, you say the same thing my mom did!
