I do have another question. How do you determine if you should use white or cream? Either color would go in my LR, but I always have trouble deciding on which would be better.
What color would you choose?
I have BM Coastal Dunes walls, cocoa brown throw rug and I will be adding chocolate or copper drapes. My other furniture is dark wood and I also have some white painted furniture in there.

What I wouldn't give to have one ounce of dlm's talent in slipcovering!! I sure wish she lived close I could keep her employed most of 2009. LOL

I'd have to see a pic of the room, first. I always like a cream but it sounds like a white might work in your space.

I'm getting some white chairs delivered next month so I guess I'd better get used to being out of my comfort range. :)

parma42....when I get home tonight, I will take a picture. The only problem is that I have different drapes in there now, and there are two pieces of furniture in there that will be taken out.

declansmom I like the crispness of white and prefer it over cream for most applications in my house - trim, window shades, slipcovers... - but it is a personal preference. I also love the look of mixing white and cream but it has to be done with a good eye and I get really nervous about it so haven't done it. To me it's one of those things, when it works it's wonderful but a near miss is too easy to do and looks like you just couldn't get a handle on what direction to go. Since my trim is crisp white that's the direction I went with the slipcovers.

brutuses I only WISH I could make slipcovers! Those were sewn by someone else.

I am showing 3 different shots of my living room:
A few points: the drapes will be changed to either chocolate or copper color drapes.
The green cabinet will be taken out of the room.
The armoire with the mirrors will be painted white. I also have another piece of furniture (a small side table) that is painted white.
I included a pic of my buffet because it shows the color of the dark wood in the room. I also have two small side tables in the same dark wood.
The ottoman will either be slipcovered or I will get a dark wood coffee table.
My idea is to "dress down" this room and make it more cozy.
Any and all suggestions are welcome.
I would love to know what you think of deciding on white or cream colored slipcover for the couch. Sorry about the sheet on the couch. It's for you-know-who (he's standing right there!)

This post started out as needing help finding an older post about slipcovers. I got immediate replies (awesome), but now I am on to another subject.
Can anyone give me any of their ideas on the pictures I posted from my living room. I am looking to "dress down" the room, and I need ideas.

I can't make out what the background color of your chair is. If it's cream, I suppose you could do cream on your slipcover. You do have a lot of white, however.

I'd much rather let someone else take a stab at this. I'm just trying out my first furniture that is white. In fact, I actually have a fear of all things white, lol. How weird is that? Guess I spent too much time with stained moldings and warm palettes.
