Do you watch any educational TV shows? Which ones? I watch

Jeperdey(sp) and the news that's about it.

We watch the History Channel and Discovery channel quite a bit.

Yes, some history channel and lots of PBS. I like nature shows but switch channels when one animal starts hunting and eating another (as inevitably happens). I really liked the genealogy show with Henry Louis Gates that aired last week on PBS--tracing the ancestors of some well known Americans. I also like the shows Allen Alda is doing on the human mind.

We really enjoy CSI, all of them. Usually only watch the 11pm show though. I like the amount of advertizing ('cause I have time then to do the whole day's dishes that I didn't do during the day.) CSI is about the only show I watch these days 'cause I am either working on business stuff or working outside in the yard and only have time to sit down after dark. Now, dark is after 10 pm already. I really enjoy gardening shows on TV but in the last few years the quality of the gardening shows has gone 'down the tubes'. We used to get shows about the plants, about how to do things in your garden, shows that taught you something about gardening. I really enjoyed Ken Beattie's show, 'Get Growing' on Saturday am until they cancelled it last year. Now, the new thing out is to quickly make over one yard and since the neighbor has the identical backyard, let's see what each landscaper can do to make them look different. No information about the plants is given. So...I am tempted to cancel HGTV. In the summer when I want to work outside that is when the TV producers used to air the gardening shows...not in the winter when I had the time to sit down for the evening. Now, it doesn't make any difference 'cause there are no really good informative gardening shows on anyways. There...my 'beef' for the day. Brenda

I love Create! I've been watching for a couple years. Saturdays they often have all day marathons of one show. Did you see "Spain...On the Road Again" with Mario Batali, Gwyneth Paltrow, a beautiful Spanish actress whose name I have forgoon at the moment, and Mark Bittman? It was absolutely wonderful! I like "Morning Joe" too, wannaretire, except for the darned music they play in the background sometimes. I like Willie Geist who has a 1/2 hour program before MJ and then is on their show a lot. We get two newspapers so I get most of the news from them. In the evening we watch ABC for two reasons. I like Diane Sawyer and the main reason------Jeopardy comes on right after :-) We sleep to either HDTV, CNN or MSNBC. CNN because I hope AC360 will have James Carvell on. I'm totally in love with him!! Cynic, those "coming up next" teasers drive me crazy, too. If you notice, these days they call themselves journalists rather than reporters. I don't know if it's because it sounds fancier or because they're just reading a script that's put in front of them. They do get my appreciation when they're able to pronounce all those foreign names. Like Blagojevich. LOL!

My husband and I have a TV den upstairs next to our bedroom (designated a small bedroom), and it's great. I absolutely did not want a TV in the living room because it would be in the way, we don't do TV as a social activity, and it would be unsightly and anachronistic in our Victorian AF main floor. We also did not want a TV in the bedroom because we've just never been into that and it's terrible for sleep hygiene. My aunt and uncle had a bedroom TV for ages but ditched it when they moved to their new house. Having the TV den upstairs near our bedroom has been great - you can retire to upstairs and watch TV/play video games before bed but not IN bed. And we'll stick with one TV. There are enough old coax cables on our house to put a TV in every room (previous owner was obsessed with TV, I guess?) but I couldn't imagine. I don't even like TV that much.

I don't have cable, but I watch a lot of PBS. I like cooking shows and documentaries the best.

My husband is a History Channel addict...I watch lots of the discovery channels...some of it is way to much information though!

Jeopardy, Clubm. Not sure how much you're learning from watching it if you didn't pick up on the spelling. ;o) I'm just teasing you, good naturedly. I hope you take it that way.

When we first got cable I was hooked on the Discovery Channel and National Geographic channel. The whole family will watch the educational programs on those channels and no one complains "this is boring." You can learn the most obscure information on those shows. I love them.

I love Jeopardy, too, and This Old House just fascinates me.
I used to watch a lot of sewing programs, when I did a lot of it.

I watch The History Channel, National Geographic, Discover and Food TV.
I rarely watch sit coms but do watch those stupid reality shows too much.

We watch a lot of the History Channel as well as the Discovery Channel.
I like PBS shows, love to catch a cooking show of Julia Childs...she is a hoot to watch.
Sometimes I'm lucky enough to catch a quilting show on PBS, I can't seem to find out just when they are showing!

I can handle it Stephanie. I thought the same thing!!! LOL!! I can't spell anymore and I was a good speller at
one time. Oh well I'll blame that on having kids to. lol!!!

We watch Jeopardy every night while we have dinner. I like Animal Planet and Discovery, but I really don't like the History Channel. DH, however, would watch it 24/7.

But for the most part, I like Food Network and HGTV.

I like to watch the Doctors but I hardly ever see it because I work during the day when it's on. For the most part, I don't watch any tv although DH always has it on. I usually read when he's watching tv.

I love the History Channel. We have 3 of them, and I always check them first. Love some PBS shows too.

Tomorrow night is the second episode of Faces of America on PBS. It's wonderful. They take four famous people and do a genealogy on their ancesters and present them with info the guest has never seen. One of the guests tomorrow night is Meryl Streep.
