Having just found Garden Smart and Great Lakes Gardening on my PBS channels, I feel like I am doing GOOD!! We have had Victory Garden consistantly on Saturdays, except for their pledge breaks. I do enjoy seeing the many different things presented. Both the new shows also show different gardens and cover topics of interest. Today I learned about Ginko trees, more than I had ever considered one tree doing! Learned how weeds help or hinder gardeners, ways to control them better, with a speaker right from the MSU garden dept. Also saw and learned how to trim, freehand, to get spirals on bushes for planting interest. Garden Smart showed us an Herb garden with a VERY knowledgable person explaining their methods of reproduction, trimming and growth to keep the garden producing well for the resturaunt that uses the food and herb products. The chef gave recipes for 3 herbs infused and uses of the herbs in syrup. Covered a lot of herb ground in many areas. QUITE worthwhile I think. Last week they covered green roofs in downtown Chicago, part of the City planning by the Mayor. Integrated a lot of areas in city, like retraining workers in landscape work, using the gardens for parks, cost saving on buildings owned by the city. Reducing roof heat in those buildings and city overall. REALLY great stuff. I know there was some writeup about Ford Company using a green roof in Detroit area on buildings. Hope some more cities take up the ideas. Everyone watching programs seems to have such different ideas of what is interesting. I have read this topic several times here. There are only so many ways to plant seeds or new plants. New tools don't come along that often. Getting really specific on bed layouts, plants to use, may not be helpful on other growing locations. Can't please everyone. Visiting other big gardens with paid help can be discouraging to others. I watch whatever I can catch, usually pick up some kind of tip or idea. These 3 are all done pretty nicely, very enjoyable to me. You don't have to love the host, just take in the free information they give away! Run with the ideas to use in your own gardens. Something is better than nothing. We don't get cable, so none of that is available to me. I LIKE my PBS stations!

It really doesn't matter which shows people prefer to others, what matters is that the viewer is enjoying it. I remember when I was younger I'd feel sorry for people who didn't do the things I enjoyed and then, with years, came a little more wisdom. I now realize that one person can have as much enjoyment jumping out of a plane as the person watching the tv. show. It's all relative, there's no order of taste. What makes you happy is the important factor. I watch several reality shows and enjoy them completely. I also enjoy being in a museum for hours and hours, go figure.. It's what makes us unique.

I watched the CBS shows and I've watched the Dateline and some of the Dr. Phil. I don't know what to think, other than believing an intruder is the least-likely scenario. Not impossible, but very unlikely, due to the way the note was written, the way the body was discovered, and Burke's interviews shortly after the crime and 18 months after the crime. Burke said he heard his mother come into his room and then go out of it looking for JonBenet, and then he heard her in hysterics (as he said in the interview afterward "going psycho") and just stayed in bed pretending to sleep or trying to sleep, rather than go try to find out what had happened. Picture your own kids. You burst into your 9 year old's room and then just as suddenly depart. You are frantically crying and screaming, alerting your spouse and then placing a 911 call. Your 9 year old doesn't freeze with fear. They don't hide. They also don't come ask you what's wrong. They don't go find dad and ask what's wrong. They just stay in bed and wait. The only reason I can think of for him to do this is either that he was used to the sound of adults "going psycho" in other parts of the house and did not find that unusual/alarming--or he knew what the problem was and was waiting to find out how his parents were going to handle it.

No, but for the irregular TV watching we do, we really like MHz. It offers European TV productions/series from various countries, with subtitles. French and Italian shows are well represented but there are others too. Most of the series are mysteries and/or crime related in some way but not all. The writing and acting are always superb and seem to be of a much higher quality than typical American fare. Amazon Prime also offers some European series productions, I recommend those too, for the same reasons.

i do love the amazing race and i watch big brother.

i have watched various seasons of survivor.

one season i watched america's next model a i admit, beauty and the geek.

there was a show on that i caught one time with b-list celebs living in a house together - the year i saw it, eric estrada, tammy faye, vanilla ice, a porn guy and some others. i don't know the name of it and it never came back on (regular) tv.

i did watch the mole once when it was celebrity another time when it was everyday peeps. i don't think i've seen that one in quite some time.

Not as much as I used to. I am seldom in the house before dark, and don't get to the tv until bedtime. I've sort of lost interest in tv.

I don't watch any of them. Don't really understand why they are called reality shows.

I only watch a couple.....America's Got Talent and Dancing with the Stars. I don't have any interest in the ongoing sagas of the other ones. Unfortunately we're going to be subject to more of them this fall, since they're replacing the shows that were dropped with more reality shows. They're so darn cheap to produce.

I'm a reality show junkie...I admit.

I watch the Biggest Loser, The Bachelor, American Idol, Top Chef and when the seasons are on, Hells Kitchen and Project Runway.

American Idol, Biggest Loser, Mama's Boys (last episode of that is next week), America's Top Model occasionally, Hell's Kitchen and The Apprentice (Is that coming back on this year?).

oh, yeah... dancing with the stars... but losing interest fast! lol
and project runway.. EVERY season, I can tell who the judges want by the second show! lol

I watched Survivor for a while, but gave up on it a couple years ago. Watched Amazing Race twice I think. Gave up on that.

I only watch American Idol, and Are You Smarter than a 5th. grader if that is considered reality. I will watch America's Got Talent and Apprentice if they come back.

Last night on PBS they showed some of the old comedy shows, and that was really refreshing.

Sad to say TV is really not worth the money; but how else can we get the up-to-the-minute news?

Im with Naughty Kitty....I watch alot of the VH1 and E channel shows for the shock factor! LOL..if my daughter (or son) acted the way some of the people on there I'd choke'em out! There are some really skanky, trashy girls on some of these shows!! I do watch American Idol too, John and Kate plus 8, Little People Big world...and most ot the shows on TLC and Discovery Health channel. I rarely watch local channels and I'm sick of the news!

I also watch Celebrity Rehab.....and now sober House. I watch Intervention too. LOL...there are so many and I am hooked! Maybe I need an intervention and rehab!

Nope...I am standing with MaryAnn and Phyllis! Just don't get the "reality" of any of them! IMO some of them are just down right stupid! But then, I guess that is why we have so many channels to choose from!

Oh Joan! You think these things AREN'T scripted???? At least there's still rasslin and roller derby... the two only unrigged sports in America today! :D
