There's one place I just can't understand. Anyone know the words?

Vannie - I Googled "lyrics to Hallelujah" and got some hits but I'm not familiar with the song so I'm not sure if it's what you're looking for. Who sings it? The only "Hallelujah" I'm familiar with is the Hallelujah Chorus. lol

Not me. If I want to save anything I do as Moni does. I use wordpad because it's such a smaller program than word and opens quickly. I use IE and IESpell to check my spelling here before hitting the submit button.

We painted our master bedroom "Reflecting Pool" by Sherwin Williams (white ceiling, trim, and doors) and I absolutely adore it. During the winter, we have a duvet with a comforter in it from Bed Bath and Beyond (the pattern is called Daintree). Its an off-white with browns and taupe and birds (has the blue and orange and a little green it it). I use dark and milky browns as accents and my bedside lamp has an orange base. By some miracle, I found a lightweight quilt at HomeGoods that also includes the teal color as well as some hot pink and green. So that is the spring/summer look.

Well it's good to know I'm not alone, I guess! Thanks for the replies. I think that motor oil or other toxins from vehicles is the most likely culprit in my case, as with yours, barrett001. I'm guessing used oil from farm equipment in my instance. I tend to discount the compacted soil theory because my blighted area is on a fairly steep uphill slope, so not optimal for parking, but it is possible. Interestingly, when I did a search for trees that are tolerant of toxic (petroleum in particular) soils, many varieties of crabapple were on the list, so I guess that explains my sole surviving tree. It is remarkable how the area has such distinct boundaries. It extends a short distance into the neighboring "re-foresting" area, and two of the spruce seedlings I planted there suffered. One died early on, while the other is a stunted specimen today. Just on the other side of the invisible line, their spruce companions are all thriving and about ten times taller than the stunted tree. If I had less land, a small yard for instance, then I would be digging out the old soil and replacing it, or building a raised bed filled with untainted soil, but as it is I have no interest in soil testing or attempting to repair my blighted area. It's more of a curiosity for me.

Ha, good luck figuring out the meaning!! Leonard Cohen wrote that, and although he is a genius song writer I can't figure out what most of his songs mean. I just enjoy them for what they are.

It means that Cohen is a poet. And I think most of his songs are about love and sex.

I love the music to this song, but like others, I don't understand the words. I had to tell myself this song is kinda like American Pie ... there are several opinions about what Don McLean *really* meant with his lyrics.

I've finally accepted that it really doesn't matter! Now I can just enjoy the song.
