Sears was running the same deal. I also have a new set coming. I couldn't believe the lines of people in the appliance department. Their sale is also suppose to run till tomorrow. However, both Sears and Lowes are showing none available (on line) the last time I checked. Wonder if they are doing rainchecks? Sears delivery date is really out there in terms of time. I think they must be somewhere on a cargo ship. Prior I couldn't get Lowes site to run, so I didn't know they were also having the same sale.

I was originally going for the silvercare, but this was just too good a deal. My son's old college roommate bought the Kenmore FL pair for $599.99.

I was at Sears and they were substituting a 3.6 LG model for the same price! I could not go that small.

On a whim I stopped at Lowes and was lucky. I think it might have been an unadvertised special.

I wanted an LG or Whirlpool or Samsung. If these were not half off I would have waited maybe for an LG but when you can save 1000.00 it makes you look at things a little differently.

I was actually going to wait until income tax time to buy one. But with the no intrest or payment thing and of coarse half off, I just could not pass it up. :) Ours will be delivered on Dec. 13th.

Heck they're not going to be delivered for 8 weeks! However, I was originally going to wait till the first of the year. So hopefully my old Neptune will hang in there.

I've been looking at the 328/337 models. Basically I was going with whichever set would be the best deal. I thought the silvercare was a nice feature, but none of the other makes have this feature, so it wasn't something I was willing to pay an additional $500.

I just used my mileage card but did do the rebate for the free delivery. I HATE this rebate stuff. Just do it at checkout. I understand why they do it, but I still don't like playing the game.

Did you notice the 218 has the little door in the front? The 328/337 do not. However, their brand new model has the little door. Were people having problems with draining out debris? I haven't found a salesman that could answer the question about where the door went on the two models. However, my Neptune FL doesn't have one and I've never had to drain stuff out the back. So is it really important? Has anyone really needed to use it?

Yeah I have forgotten to do a few rebates before... Im a sucker .lots of people forget to send in the rebate on time. Thats why they like to use them :(

We should post back to this thread when we try out our new washers to compare how well we think they operate.

You can go on Samsung's web site and download the manual. Talks about the little door. Basically just a way to clean out large debris and dump water if for whatever reason it should quit.

One thing on about all the newer washers is that they are controlled by circuit boards. What that means is they are very precise in running all functions and cutting off the water. If you have copper pipes you may have to buy the water hammers that they are making to attach to the washer lines. Even my old Neptune was causing this problem. They basically attach to the water hoses. Just wanted to mention this if you start getting the water "bang" noise. No one told me, and I finally found a easy answer for my problem. Hopefully, if you know it might save you some grief.

Also, to put your mind at rest, you should be fine with a front loader. The biggie is not to use so much soap. With the window it should be easy to monitor. As an owner of a hot tub/spa I've seen the soap residue come out of children's friends swim clothes. I would say the vast majority of people overdose their clothes. I've never had any of the problems associated with front loaders such as mildew, tying clothes in knots, etc. Maybe I've been lucky.

I bought the Samsung 328 two weeks ago, after my old Frigidaire FL constantly leaked after 8 years.
I debated between the Miele 1203 and the Samsung. I come from Europe and I am used to small, efficient front loaders (that need a Phd to operate!).
I decided on the Samsung because a local repair man told us that it was the brand they have the least problems/repairs with. I paid normal retail at Best Buy online($1200), it seems I never get the good deals :-( but I was very satisfied with purchase/delivery.
The deciding factors were, that the Miele was almost twice the price and the warranty was only a year, and all the posts about the non issue of vibrations of the Samsung. And I can attest it is not an issue with this machine. We installed it ourselves on the second floor.
The machine washes well enough for me. I have 4 soccer players in the family and it gets the dirt out. I wished the drum was a little smaller. I sort the laundry and wash a couple times a week and usually it is only half full. And a temperature chart relating to wash temperature would have been nice, too. Cold, warm and hot is just not very accurate.
I don't know what difference the silvercare makes, but we have 3 air-o-swiss humidifier that use the Ag+, too. There it works wonders. I never have to clean them, no bacteria and other slimy stuff like in our old humidifiers.

Now, if my Samsung washing machine lasts 10 years without any incident I am one happy customer.
Another thing, the 328 doesn't have the filter to clean out. Neither did my Frigidaire and it was never an issue.

Wow, Bigideas, you got a huge deal! I stopped in at our Lowe's to see if there were any deals going there and it's just a piddly 10%. My appliance man is going to call us if it gets better, but he'd better be careful or someone else will offer me a deal. Congratulations!!

Cdov, that's the model I'm getting. I hope I like it!! Glad to hear it gets the dirt out and that you are positive about the Ag+ aspect of your humidifier. Hope the silvercare helps with those weird residual odors that pop up once in a while while ironing shirts!

well Lowe's called a couple days ago and they are now on back order so I will have to wait 6 to 8 weeks :(

I was so looking forward to using my new machines.

I also put an ad up on a "freecycle " cite to give my "old" washer/dryer away and had someone who was looking forward to receiving my "old" ones on Saturday and had to tell her I could not give them to them for another 6 to 8 weeks... so now I feel bad but I still need to wash my laundry until I get the new ones.

Sorry you have to wait -- Just sit there and think about how much money you saved!! The salesman at our Lowes (not our regular salesman) was quite sure you couldn't have gotten that good a sale!! I didn't argue with him -- what's the point! I'm still waiting . . .

I have been shopping for a new Samsung set myself and I have been watching Lowes like a hawk. I have also spoken with a Lowes employee that I know very well. The best sale I have found in the past months has been their usual 10% discount and once was a 20% but it was stacked 10% coupons. I have not found any sale in the amounts mentioned here?

I'm not questioning that it actually happened but if you recieved half off, I'm fairly certain that the Lowes screwed up big time.

Mepop, I'm having the same experience . . . we have a salesman there who's watching for sales on a whole list of appliances. He's already found two "scratch and dents" for my lower level kitchenette -- great prices, and the scratches are where no one will see them. So I know he's as eager to find a sale as I am . . . because he knows I'm watching everywhere!

Another Lowe's salesman said he'd never heard of that big a sale. She sure got lucky!!

The sale was valid. It was a short period of time on Black Friday. You have to realise this is for the models without the silvercare. I have been watching and figure they were going for between 30-35% off. The biggie is (at least with Sears) they are taking the money then placing the order. That is my opinion in why it's taking them so long to deliver.

Sears also did a 50% off of a Kenmore front load washer and dryer. The set went for under $600. Just the washer is regular $599. My son's old college roommate bought it for his new place.

I didn't mean to imply I thought it wasn't valid. Since it wasn't the model I'm looking for, the salesman who's watching for deals for me wouldn't have called. The other guy who told me he hadn't heard about it . . . who knows?

Whatever the case, Bigideas got a bargain worth waiting for!
