RECIPE: A favorite company dessert - Frozen Truffle Loaf

Sure, Roselin. This is really good for entertaining because you can make it 2-3 days ahead & keep in the refrigerator: SLICES OF SIN (serves 10-12) 8 oz semisweet chocolate (use a good brand) 1/2 cup strong brewed coffee 2 sticks butter, (1/2 lb) 1 cup sugar 4 eggs, beaten 1 cup heavy cream Preheat oven to 350°. Line a glass loaf pan w/foil; butter the foil. In the top of a double boiler, melt the chocolate in the coffee. Add the butter & sugar, stirring until the butter is melted. Cool the mixture for 10 minutes. Beat in the eggs 1 at a time. Pour the mixture into the prepared loaf pan. Bake until a crust forms on top, approximately 35-45 minutes. When cool enough to handle, set the loaf pan in enough cool water to come halfway up the pan. The dessert wil rise & fall as it cools. When cool, wrap the pan well & refrigerate for at least 2 days or up to 2 weeks. When ready to serve, beat the cream until stiff (can flavor with 2-3 tsp brandy, but I just used vanilla & a little sugar). Unmold the loaf & slice. Garnish w/cream.~~

what is your favorite and was your favorite candy

I guess Godiva Chocolates are my favorite candy for the occasional chocolate fix. Sees Candy has gone way downhill too except for a few classic items. Their stores are full of candy bar type stuff and they got rid of Sugar Sticks!!!. Now, they still make them because they are still put in the boxes for holidays. But you can't buy them alone anymore. You have to buy a box of stuff you don't want to get 2 or 3 of them. I like Russell Stover candy at the drugstore. All my old favorites have been reformulated or changed. UNO bars are no longer much different from a Three Muskateer. Annabel took the middle layer of chocolate out the Rocky Road bar. Hershey's has recently change their chocolate Kiss formula also. Probably think we won't notice by introducing all the silly different varieties but people did. Even Lifesavers messed up their flavors. It will be just like what happened to hamburgers *sigh*. A whole generation of kids grew up on McD's so they think In and Out or Sonic are something special. LOL I still like Swedish Fish. But only the original red ones. The multi-colored ones are just wrong.

Frozen an store bought Pizza's?
Q

Raee_gw, the DiGiorno garlic, spinach & mushroom pizza was my go-to favorite for when I was home alone. Usually working on a project (no interruptions) & would grab one from the freezer case at Menard's. Ditto on using the Weber to cook home made pizza. I bought some quarry tiles in lieu of a pizza stone. Cheaper & easy to stack & store. Rarely have pizza anymore because I discovered I am gluten intolerant. Anyone have a good recipe for thick crust gluten free pizza dough? Talking about pizza is making me crave one. Or two.

Frozen pizza crusts

I have made pizza dough and frozen them quite often. I wrap them tightly, but not *too* tightly is plastic wrap. The dough will still rise a bit as it freezes. I thaw them on the counter for several hours before rolling out for pizza. eta: I just form the pizza dough into a ball when I freeze it, then when it's completely thawed and it rises some more (you have to take the plastic wrap off) I let it rise more then roll it out to form the pizza.

California Pizza Kitchen's BBQ chicken (but NOT the microwaveable pizza-for-one; the crusts is not the same as the regular-size pizza's).

Used to love Stouffer's French Bread Pizza, but they've recently changed the recipe for their sauce, and it's no longer on my shopping list. Sometimes the "new great taste!" is a bad thing!

I used to eat Stouffers French Bread pizza, haven't had it in several years. I prefer pizza shop pizza-just plain cheese, no other toppings.

DiGiorno's rising crust supreme--our Saturday treat is to have a pizza for lunch, and DiGiorno's is the pizza of choice.

DiGiorno's is OK and so is Amy's. I prefer fresh pizza from a pizza shop.

I will be watching this thread....I have never bought a frozen pizza (we call them 'cardboard pizza's')that has been really good! I always have to add more ingredients to it...or sauce, or cheese or something.

I would just as soon use my time and make a homemade pizza. And of course my family is spoiled because of that.

I usually make my own pizza too. I love making pizza dough and letting it slow rise inthe fridge over night for that really good flavor.

I have eaten Digiorno's and it was good.

We like Tombstone frozen pizza, all kinds. I pile it high with extra green peppers, onion, mushrooms and sliced black olives. Spray it with some olive oil spray and cook it in the oven. Good stuff.

I bought a couple of fresh pizzas marked down today from the deli at Meijer. They are big ones and were $4.79 each they were the supreme. I gave them both to Amber. She will freeze them. Good price and they are good too.

If I want something decent for a frozen pizza I get Freshetta. It's the closest thing to a pizza shop. There's others that are OK in their own way. I actually like Totino's but it's not comparable to a pizza place of course. To me, Digiornio is nothing but a piece of Texas toast with some sauce and toppings, and not a lot of either.
