Here's my birthday treat.

Dinner was sooo good..if I do say myself...LOL I'm a good cook! Hubby grills steaks good too..

Didn't snap a picture..I was starving..

But here's dessert..

Organic Nectarines, fresh whipped local whip cream, few strawberries from my garden and some warmed up Ann T Caramel Sauce.

That looks so yummy! The strawberries look better than any I have seen in a few seasons. Do you many more coming?

Denise, I planted only ever bearings..so the "picking" is slim every few days off 12 plants..but they are delish...I planted 3 varieties and I thought I loved Shuksan, but those ones are called Joes Best or something like that..I think I like the Joe's better.

Guess I"m the one to have to say belated HAPPY BIRTHDAY. I thought I posted on this last night, but my computer froze up when I tried to send it. I thought it went, but I guess it is out there for you to find in outerspace( maybe you Starwars cast will help find it,Ha. I am so glad that you had a good day and that you are feeling better. Recovery takes time. My DGD found a white turkey gravy boat the other day atGW and bought it for me. It tickled me that she knew Granny would like it. Karen, thanks so much for the birthday wishes! Like I said, it felt like a giant cosmic joke to be getting another year older and have the entire end of my nose be bright red and sore! We had a nice day and the day after Christmas, I went and bought some more Hallmark ornaments on sale! Which I needed like a hole in the head, because I can barely get the ones I already own on the tree now!! : ) I also hit the sales at HL and Michaels. The zit is almost gone. Now, I'm dreading putting Christmas away. Not because of the work involved, but because everything seems so drab and dull after its down!! We are having our family Christmas this weekend. Our DIL LOVES onions...son, hates them! LOL So, I found this recipe and she is excited! I only made 3...Dean is sure that I should have make 6! lol Stuffed Onions 1/2 cup uncooked white rice 6 large Vidalia onions 3/4 pound ground spicy pork sausage 1/4 cup chopped green bell pepper 1 egg, beaten 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley 2 tablespoons butter, melted 1/2 teaspoon paprika Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Lightly grease a baking dish. In a saucepan bring 1 cup water to a boil. Add rice and stir. Reduce heat, cover and simmer for 20 minutes. Meanwhile, bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Peel onions and slice off the tops; boil for 12 to 15 minutes, or until tender but not mushy. Drain, cool and remove the centers, leaving the shell intact. Chop onion centers and reserve 1/2 cup. Cook sausage over medium high heat until evenly brown. Drain and set aside, reserving drippings. Saute green pepper and 1/2 cup chopped onion in sausage drippings. (I used a pan big enough so that I could mix everything together) In a large bowl combine green pepper, onion, sausage, egg, 1 cup cooked rice, cream cheese, oregano and parsley. Spoon mixture into onion shells and place in prepared dish. Combine melted butter and paprika; brush tops of onions. Cover and bake in preheated oven for 15 minutes. Uncover, and bake an additional 5 minutes.

I'm with Ann, I would much rather have berries and whipped cream than cake! When asked what I wanted for my birthday, the closest I could get to a cake was angel food with berries and whipped cream (had to have some concession to "birthdayness"). Happy birthday again!

Homemade caramel is so worth the effort. I wouldn't want a birthday cake myself these days, since we wouldn't be able to eat all of it, and so your dessert looks like a great choice.

I only make caramel at Christmas - maybe I should consider it for other occasions - thanks for the inspiration!

Lars, I make a half batch of Ann's caramel and keep it in the fridge in a canning jar..lasts a long time..it will "crystalize" a bit though reheated in the micro in the jar, but I don't mind..if I want it smooth again when heating up, I just pour it in a pan and simmer with a bit more cream.

I'm still eating the whipped cream..LOL...
I've got Alton's Vanilla icecream in the KA right now..Doesn't seem to make a very big batch..I guess I won't have to share.....ROFLMAO
