Yes, for about 8 years, but couldn't get married before because her parents were sick and she also had health problems.

Do you know any of their other friends? I was thinking perhaps a few of you couples could get together & give them a gift certificate to a dinner & one night stay at a nearby Bed & Breakfast?

I am trying to stay away from gift certificates.

Was thinking of something material but useful. WAs thinking of nice picture to hold their wedding photo.

I am big on giving picture frames for gifts. Or perhaps a nice photo album. A CD of pics that are meaningful to them? I am really enjoying my digital frame.

I like to give a clock as a wedding present. It symbolizes the time they will spend together. A small crystal clock is nice.

I've also given an engraved door knocker for the home. (if they own it)

Too many store are going out of business right now- good idea to stay away from the gift cards.

A nice frame would be good. I like the idea of a night at a B&B. You could wait to pay for it once they have picked a day to stay there.

A very nice Christams ornament. Maybe if you could find a Waterford one or have one made that says "Our first Christmas Together". Monogramed bathroom towels. I like the engraved door knocker idea. Are they having a reception? Because if they are having a reception, I suspect they will get a few picture frames/albums. Are they registered anywhere? Do they garden... maybe a 'couple' rose bushes or something similar.

How about having some pictures from the wedding (or older pictures of your friend and when she was courting her fiance) put into a book? I had several of these made at Xmas. The link below is just one of many companies that do this.

I like the idea of a rose bush. I have a relative that always gives a lemon tree to plant in their yard. I always thought that was a nice idea.

How about a favorite recipe with all the ingredients and a serving bowl/plate to go with it? My mom did this for Christmas this year and it was a big hit. Maybe a LaCruset casserole dish and the ingredients? That's something I would love to get.

I like to give monogrammed items. Towels, sheets, glassware, table linens for a late wedding when they have everything. I think photo albums and picture frames are really overdone these days though lovely. Helped DD put away gifts from when her son was born. We packed more than one quite large carton of photo albums.
