Posting Pictures In-Thread Using An Apple Mac Book: How To Do It

I have an Macbook and I'm wondering if anyone could tell me how to post a picture from a different website in-thread rather than in a link at the bottom of my post.

I did a search on the forum but only managed to find a desciption using a non-Apple computer. Since I cannot 'left' or 'right' click, I need help! Please tell me like you would tell a five year old. Step by step... Assume that I know nothing, because I really do know nothing about this-after being on THS for six years! Sheesh. I'll have to practice until it's second nature to me. Thank you!

Why can't you left & right click? I have a Mac too.

I have a new mac with the right click option, but i think on the macs without it you just control+click on the picture you want to post to get the image info. then follow these instructions that someone else posted here and I copied to remember myself:

Go to the website with the photo, put your cursor on the photo and RIGHT click (you would control + click) and a box will pop up.
select and click on VIEW IMAGE INFO
A box will appear with the line LOCATION: followed by that photo's location on the web starting with HTTP and ending with JPG.
Copy and paste the location into your post at GardenWeb.
Type in front of it img src=
It will look like this:
img src=http and so on, ending with jpg
Then add carets at the beginning and end.
Preview the message and if you don't see the photo, something has gone wrong.

It is complicated to explain, easy to do. It's easier if you print this out and follow the instructions.

Adding to what has already been said... I almost went the PhotoBucket route and even thought about Flickr... but with both of those you have limited quantities of uploads etc., unless you choose to pay for the extras So I just use my FaceBook photo albums, with the security settings for just those albums set to be viewable by everyone. To the best of my knowledge you can have max 200 pics per album and close to unlimited individual albums. When pics get uploaded they are resized to a decent size regardless of the orginal size(unless they are already small pics to start with). Heres the blank HTML for posting pics: img src="your pic url" example: img src="http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc4/hs642.snc4/60202_431529768493_542183493_5244512_1358265_n.jpg" (this is without the necessary at the end) and this is with How do you get the image url if you do decide to use your FaceBook photo albums to host the pics you post here ? In Chrome go to the photo you want to post here, right click on it and choose the option to copy image url, and then past the image url in between the quotation marks In IE7 and up, go to the pic you want to post here, right click on it, from the pull down menu click on Properties, from that pop-up window you'll see the the Address:(URL), high lite it(all of the url), copy it, and then paste it in between the set of quotation marks. Then you copy the complete HTML and paste it into the message/response that you are posting. Photobucket and Flickr both can do all of that for you and all you have to do is copy and paste the HTML code into your message, but if you choose not to use either of them, there are options. ~Donald~

I have 2 more thingscompliments of the squirrels! Guess theyre good for somethingmaybe! I was gonna pull these out and just throw them away, but........... The first one I pulled out came with the acorn still attached to it, so I dug up the second one and theyre both now in pots! I have 2 oak trees! I assume theyre Gamble Oaks (Quercus gambelii), just because thats the most commonly found oak in this area, but I really dont have any way at all to be sure! If they are Gamble Oaks, they could wind up being anything from a single trunked smallish tree to a multi trunk bush kind of thing that looks more like scrub oak! There are two of them planted in one of the display gardens at Paulinos (they sell them), and one looks like a tree and the one right next to it is more "bushy!" Since I dont even know for sure what they are, theres no way to tell what theyre gonna look likebut they do have oak leaves!!! They will also spread somewhat, underground, I believe, and when they produce acorns, they will reseed fairly easily! So if somebody wants to take a chance on what they are and give them a try, Ill bring them along. I recommend them for somebody with a bigger yard, rather than just a tiny residential yard. Theyre still attached to the acorn and have very few roots. I would recommend growing them in the pots for a month or two so you can control the water better than if they were in the ground, and Id recommend you use a wet/dry cycle. Theyre completely saturated now, let them dry almost completely, then resaturate, let dry, resaturate........ Assuming they are Gamble Oaks they like it dry, and letting them dry almost all the way before watering again should help them form roots. Anybody interested? Skybird

I found this on a forum - it was in response to someone asking to make a photo very large and square, so ignore the references to that. You can experiment and see if you can upload the larger image to photobucket. (note that I think the photo has to be in your pictures folder and not iphoto). "Mac OS X has a built-in application called Preview that is quite capable for simple edits like resizing. First, open the image in Preview (should be the default; if not, right-click the file or click the Action toolbar item (the gear icon) with the file selected and choose Open With and then Preview). Then click on the Tools menu and select Adjust Size. This will open a sheet asking for your desired resolution and dimensions. Type them in, unchecking the Scale Proportionally option if necessary to get an exactly square image. Click OK, save the file (IÃ¯Â¿Â½d recommend saving it with a different name), and youÃ¯Â¿Â½re done. Please note, though, that upscaling JPG files will undoubtedly result in a loss of qualityÃ¯Â¿Â½sometimes a drastic one."

Pammy, I don't know if I'm reading your post right, so let me confirm I understand. You have a Mac now but want to buy a standard laptop (Windows) right? If that's correct, I think it's a wise choice since Apple products are used at your work. Of course as with anything there is a small learning curve with the touchpad but they are intuitive so its nothing too severe (I think anyways). Here is a link to a good article from the "For Dummies" book series (sorry, I hate that title!) that explains the buttons, which mimic a mouse and how to use it. How to use a touchpad and of course if you run into trouble, specific questions can always be answered here. As for the wireless mouse, I think that's an excellent idea. If I used my laptop sitting at a table or desk, I would sure use one! Brand wise you can't go wrong with Logitech

I have a 2 year old macbook pro and it has a touch pad, press Ctrl and click on the touch pad.

I forgot about the touch-pad. I have to use a mouse ... the pad irritates me no end.

Thank you, Ladies! In spite of my touch pad and the fact that when I "right click" on the image it gives me the prompt: "Copy Image Address" rather than Locations (which saves me the time of highlighting and copying the long string of characters), the directions were perfect.

I will copy these and keep it for future reference. For now, I'm going to post more lovely pictures. Thank you!

You can make your touch pad to do the "two finger" right click.

Please help me post from my macbook pro. The instructions didn't work for me. I did not get the message to select and view image photo.
We are buying a home that I will need lots of help on.

Gingerjars, open a Photobucket (or the like) account, and post pictures from there. You cannot post a picture directly from a computer hard drive.

Looks like it worked fine! You won't see the photo unless you preview it.

Thanks so much for the help. The house we are buying needs so much work and I will be honored for all the help I can get. As you can tell from the pic this will be one of the first place we will start.
