A MacBook Air question

For those who have one: I have an old MacBook, so I am somewhat familiar with how some things work, but I'm thinking of getting a new laptop because its operating system is so outdated, it's not really worth updating all the versions of updated software. (Altho I will still use it as a supplemental screen to check a certain stream of e-mails.)

Is there a tough learning curve with the trackpad gestures?

And before I become fully literate in that, is it stupid to get a wireless mouse? I do a lot of document editing, and I'm thinking a wireless mouse will help me work at a better speed, because my job is deadline-oriented.

(Also, even though I've been reading a lot about the Air, there's still a part of me that yells "Get a PC!" -- since editors at my workplace don't use Apples, we use PCs. Which means there are certain commands -- like a 'right click' on the mouse is done with the option/click on the MacBook.)

Any advice would be great!
