Nope.

Check your dryer venting. Any time that's suggested, the typical response is "We already did. It's fine." But when examined again, more closely, obstructions are often found. If you have flexduct running between the dryer and wall, make it as short and straight as possible. If additional length was used for "working" room to connect it before pushing the dryer into place, you may need to move the washer aside so you can get behind the dryer and arrange it or shorten the length. Check the outside exhaust hood for clogs.

Although it's a very short straight-shot through the wall, my wall opening is offset from the dryer centerline. When the ducting was like this first picture, that was enough obstruction to cause the dryer to throw an overheat fault when running large load of towels.

I can't move the dryer any further left. Turning it at an angle for a straighter run of the ducting eliminated the overheat faulting and it dries faster than ever. It'd be better still if I shortened the ducting to eliminate the compression, but I must have enough length to flex for the offset.

Since the dryer was moved to get the washer in, we checked the dryer vent and it is compressed. We also cleaned out the vent to be sure there were no clogs there. It looks like it did with the old washing machine.

OK, but again, be sure on the vent cleaning. I've found that what some people have meant in reference to "cleaning the vent" is only the flexduct between the wall and dryer. They didn't check/clean the flue/ducting all the way from the laundry room wall to the exit outside the house, and it may run some distance further if the dryer is not directly on an exterior wall. Some exhaust hoods have a bird/critter guard that accumulates lint and must be cleaned regularly.

Friend of mine bought a 2-story house with the washer/dryer on the second floor. The dryer vent goes through the attic area and upon checking they found the ducting had separated and it was blowing (moisture & lint) into the attic. Apparently the property inspector during the sale/purchase process didn't catch that.

What is your dryer's brand/model#?

Guess I wasn't clear on my question. It's an LG WM2101H washer that isn't spinning the clothes as much expected.

When I first got my Duet pair, I too was expecting the clothes to feel dryer after spinning, but they didn't! I can dry a large load in about 50 minutes, a medium load in about 40 min's. But not BONE dry, just about 95% dry.

I have about 3 feet of flex duct from dryer to the bottom wall opening-LG wd stacked and it takes me an hour for load to dry. Full load of heavy stuff takes about hour and half or more.BUT, I don't use the highest spin speed and I use med.high temp on the dryer.So I think an hour is fine for your average load.
It does not bother me drying it longer.It is just matter of pushing a button.
Is it really such a big deal if it takes longerto dry?

FL's do spin at a higher RPM and extract more water ...

The problem is .. the new FL dryers use a lower drying temperature which then takes longer to dry.

The dryer is about a 9 year old Kenmore. I can't find a model number on it.

I just bought the same machine and had the same reaction. If I'm understanding the manual correctly, if you choose "normal" for your wash cycle, it will spin on "high" as opposed to "extra high." If you manually set it on "extra high," it gets more water out (I tried that after my first normal load seemed downright wet). Even then, though, it seems to get out only as much water as my 10-year-old Frigidaire that we just got rid of.

I did my first load of my husbands work clothes( heavy jeans,tee shirts, jean work shirts) and my jeans included. That load would have been 2 loads in my top loader.It took 50 Min's to dry. I am not complaining because that would have taken me 2 hours to dry with my old dryer.
I bought the LG 7.0 dryer.

My Whirlpool Duet always took a long time to dry clothes but now is taking at least three times as long. I finally had my vents cleaned by two friends today and opened the machine to clean out the vent underneath it behind the door. Is seems to be working fine but the heat is not hot inside and the clothes are taking forever to dry. Due to the discoloration on the inside of the dryer, I am wondering if the drum is failing after only 5 years and 1 month?

Tinylady, that is great that the LG has a stainless steel drum and dries quickly. I wish I had bought the LG set instead of the Whirlpool Duet Set. But in all fairness I do like my washer a lot just not the dryer.

Mark40511, My dryer only dries in 50 minutes when there is only 2 sheets in the dryer and I have an Whirlpool Duet 9400 that is 5 years old. I wish my dryer dried quickly. It always took a long time but now it is taking a much longer time.

auntieb, sounds like your machine is working like mine. On normal, a load feels water logged. Even on the high speed spin, it doesn't seem any more rung out than in my 10 year old non HE washer.

Yes, annnorthtexas, and today I had to schedule my first service call after having it for less than a week. Twice now I've been in the room when it's started shaking like mad on the high-speed spin cycle, as if the wash wants to leap out of the machine. I can actually see the door moving outward and hear the latch clicking. Just checked it with a level, and it seems as if Home Depot may have been off by 1/8", though it feels stable when it's not in use. Never had this problem with the Frigidaire, either. Hmm!

1/8" off-level is not likely to cause a problem. It's much more crucial for the machine to be stable with the weight equally supported on all four corners than to be precisely level. Gross off-level that shifts the tub askew from its intended resting position can cause problems in terms of the machine's off-balance sensors not being able to function properly.

That's helpful to know. It seems to be a particular kind of load--both times I saw it happen, it was sheets. Haven't tried the Spin Sense feature yet. Perhaps that will help. Or perhaps the repair guy will see that something is askew.
