One similar looking but less expensive and easier to do alternative is to simply do a brick wall first and then just clad it with cut pieces of stone set in cement.

I love this look, I too have a short dry stone wall that I love, it is a part of our driveway so there is a small hill above it - I want to plant something above the stone wall that will help secure the soil which is less rich but with more gravel and it is in a high sun area - I like the idea of something creeping but that is not necessary - I also love ornamental grasses and didn't know if blue fescus would be a good idea - could anyone suggest a plant that would help the soil on that hill behind the stone wall from eroding and offer a nice visual statement. I live in western PA so I'm zone 6b - I prefer a perennial vs. annual plants please - thank you for any suggestions

Is a pipe buried behind a retaining wall necessary for drainage when building a stone wall and when is it necessary?
