I remember the title.......did it have to do with a primitive tribe? And was Coca-Cola somehow involved?

I loved that movie, but I don't remember it too well except the African people and a Coke dropped from a plane. I'm sure it's readily available, probably Amazon and/or Netflix.

I remember the movie. The second one wasn't nearly as good as the first one. There is a third one but I haven't seen it yet.

One of my favorites, so different in its humor but still so funny. Yes, the Coke bottle fell from a plane and "the little Bushman" as he was referred to some times decided to take it to the edge of the world and drop it over. The bottle caused too much discord among his people.

That poor surveyor(?)can't remember his name, was such a bumbler. Funny!

OMG that movie I laughed so hard. There's a frustrated woman in the US who is tired of her job. She sees an ad to teach in Africa and decides to give it a try. There's a white man living/working in Africa (can't remember what he does) who meets this woman - they fall in love but he is such a klutz and shy his antics are almost slapstic comedy. In the meantime at the beginning a guy flying a small plane is drinking a coke and throws the empty bottle out the window which falls on a tribesman's head - they have never seen a bottle and think it is from God. The whole tribe finds different uses for the bottle from grinding down grains to flower, musical instrument and more. This peaceful loving tribe starts to fight, learn to hate which changes the tribes attitudes which they have never experienced. In the meantime there are some revolutionaries fighting and by the last third of the movie all of these groups wind up involved with each other. I can't remember it much better than that. It's narrated like a documentary at times which is hilarious.

Great movie - guaranteed laughs and well worth seeing. You may find this movie in used bins or check ebay.

Yes, it is very funny. I think the premise is, that a couple of primitive men find a coke bottle. Trying to figure out what it is, and what to do with it, is hilarious.

I didn't know about the third. In the second, I just fell in love with the two little kids in it. I'm going to Amazon and see about getting another copy, and maybe #3.

Funny, funny movie. I remember my son was pre teen at the time and we had to drag him with us. He was so glad he went. Loved it.

I'm the one who mentioned in the Shirt post that I wanted a t-shirt that says "Does the noise in my head bother you?" Loved that line in the film.

The main bushman, Xi, is a real bushman (along with his tribe), not an actor. I've seen in a couple of times in National Geographic type shows over the years. He has a very distinctive look.

I watched both movies and thought they were funny. I saw a film on the tribe several years later. It wasn't quite so funny. Intervention with the tribe changed their way of life and hurt them.

I forgot about the follow up documentary Adella. It was very interesting but sad.

I never saw the movie but a local theater near UC/Berkeley showed it nightly for at least a year straight. Must have been extremely popular with the college crowd.

I don't remember elephants or monkeys. I remember the rhinoceros that rushed in and stamped the fire out!

I didn't enjoy the second one as much as the first. I remember when it came out they said that the boy who starred in the movie was walking and the money that he made was just flying in the air around him. He had no concept on how valuable it was.

I was just thinking about this movie last week. Hands down, it was our family's favorite. There were so many funny scenes. I laughed so hard at the adventures the researcher had with his land rover when he went to pick up the teacher. The scene with the gate where the rover kept rolling down hill, and the one when the land rover ended up the tree were so funny. I wish there were more movies like this. I was sad when I read a year or so ago that the little bushman passed away.

It was a long time ago. I remember a lot of tongue clicking talk and a pop bottle.

I checked, Amazon has it on VHS for cheap.

Definitely one of my favorite movies. I started watching it again last night. There is a bit of a moral to the bottle part about materialism and greed. Sometimes the more we have, the more we want.
