Check out my trade list, I have things on your want list. I wasn't able to work in the garden last year due to injuries, but it didn't stop me from adding more plants. I'm sure there's quite a few not on the list yet, will work on that. Phyllis

Since you are new here I feel I must give you the old fashioned rule of mini roses. Miniature roses do not officially count as roses so as of this time you have kept your promise. This rule was made about five years ago because another forum poster had decided to do the same thing you are doing. In this area with minimal pruning all three will reach three feet tall and about two feet wide. It will take quite a while so you can enjoy them without having to run for the hills like you would with a rambler. Dresden Doll is a great rose and fairly healthy here, after it gets some size it does better against blackspot. Lance

Today it's a done deal. Check left my hands and the plants are officially mine. I learned that the space they are in is two large plots of a community garden so I can continue to rent the space if I need to in future years. It is a little too far away for me to maintain well but they do have help that work regular hours at the gardens so for example I won't have to worry about watering. I think for now my goal in this season will be to clear out one of the plots completely so that I only have to rent a single plot next year. That is probably realistic. I am also focusing on digging daylilies now since the iris will bloom soon & I need to see their pretty faces to id them. A pretty little yellow standard dwarf was blooming already today. I received a key to the gate so I can come & go as I please and I learned where all the tools & hoses, etc are kept so today when I dug plants I was able to do the washing there. Some of these daylilies are really huge clumps so it's going to mean dividing them in order to make sure the grass does not follow me home. But still doing this part of the work there will make it easier to get them in the ground once they come home. For one thing I don't have to worry about where to dump the excess dirt so as not to spread the weed grass as I worried at my own garden. I keep finding more interesting historics in the mix which I am excited about since I love the hybridizer's history. Stout's h. fulva 'Rosalind' was among those that came home today. I read all about her this winter. Oh and I found 'Sabine Baur', 'Planet Max', and 'Emperor Butterfly' that had to come home. Today I dug & washed 13 more daylilies and a couple more iris. I did a rough count at the garden, there are 5 rows of iris and 11 rows of daylilies with approximately 32 plants per row. The iris rows do have quite a few holes in them though. Since my camera isn't working I used my cell phone to take a few pictures so I will try to get those posted tomorrow. I also keep realizing I have more space than I thought at my home so that's a good thing too. I don't think it is really going to hit me what I've just done until full bloom hits. I imagine my garden is going to stop people in the street this year :)

Some people run a line of straight stitching at the edge of the fabric where the fraying begins. I've also seen decorative stitches along the edge (also where the fray begins) - that was done in silver thread on a scarf and also gold thread on another scarf.....some people just do a zig zag close to where the fray begins as well. You have a few options - play around and see which you like best.
