Lately, I've had crimson on the brain. Maybe it's because I live in Alabama, home of the recently crowned Crimson Tide football champs (I can hardly step out my front door without being confronted by a crimson flag, hat or T-shirt). But I've always loved this saturated hue, which is one of the prettiest and most versatile reds in the spectrum. Its subtle blue undertones calm it down and give it a hint of gravitas, and it's fairly easy to work into a palette. Check out the ways that crimson works in these 10 great spaces.

I can't think of a warmer welcome than this crimson front door. The cheerful color complements the front porch's old-fashioned cottage style perfectly and sets the tone for what's inside.

The color spectrum of the reds from the natural tones of raspberries, red grapes, tulips and the many other variations that nature gives us as invaluable inspiration are my most favorite. I use a sunset and the hues of coral to spontaneously create a moment of awe and connection to a space. And a red door..... I love that!
