Fisher+Paykel Eco Intuitive not working properly
Comments (76)Hi there Dadoe, I’m back again for your wisdom, I still have the Iwl16 machine and it’s been working great since you last helped me out, the drain pump went out on it in February 2019 and I replaced it, however now whenever it runs out of water but the machine still has it engaged it’s making a screaching sound that’s pretty noticeable even with the laundry room doors closed. Pump sounds fine as long as it actually has water to pump out or recirculate...once it gets to the rinse and spin phases where the pump is engaged but not having much water to pump is where the problem comes in...I have tried another brand new pump and it’s actually worse than the one I installed a year ago, I even tried a new motor controller board only to have the same issue. Am I missing something or are they just really making crappy quality pumps now?? The machine works fine, just noisy now and it’s definitely the drain pump but I’m not gonna keep purchasing drain pumps til I get a good one...any advice would be appreciated...See Morenew fisher paykel machine?
Comments (13)Yes, as the picture shows, AquaSmart models have a wash plate/impeller, not a traditional agitator. AquaSmart models are akin to Oasis/Cabrio/Bravos. As I mentioned previously, Whirlpool borrowed F&P's SmartDrive motor and floating-basket design for the initial O/C/B machines and are still using it for the upper-end models, other models are now using the new belt-drive design. The three AquaSmart models currently on F&P's site differ thusly: The LCD unit is the top-of-line model with a deluxe control panel, additional cycle options, and detergent/bleach/softener dispensers. The LED models have fewer cycle options and a standard button panel. The D model has detergent/bleach/softener dispensers. The K model does not have dispensers, but should have the same cycle selections as the D model. I believe there's an error on the K model description regards to 19 Lifecycles (the description references the LCD model). Instruction manuals are viewable on F&P's site to check the operational details....See MoreFisher Paykel GWL11 EcoSmart Washer Diverter Valve Problem
Comments (35)@derauf Permanent Press is the cycle that doesn't run Eco Active recirculation. Did you remove and examine the diverter for a broken linkage, or a foreign object jamming it from physically shifting modes? Assuming your pump runs and the diverter is not broken or jammed, a cause of continuous recirculation (failure to drain) is a bad motor controller board that continuously powers the diverter, per the previous replies to Greg Neault in this thread. Using Permanent Press won't circumvent that problem because the board is bad and powers the diverter at all times regardless of the selected cycle. A possible work-around is via disconnecting the diverter wires. Permanent Press is the only cycle that would work that way. The motor board would run the pump during recirculation periods on the other cycles which would drain the water even if the diverter is disconnected....See MoreFisher Paykel GWL11 diverter valve allways on - bad controller?
Comments (32)I decided to go ahead and replace the control board. I purchased the board from needapplianceparts.com (http://www.needapplianceparts.com/420094usp.aspx) because: 1) It was new and updated control board (old board was sd11 new said sd12) 2) Price competitive. 3) Answered my questions promptly before I purchased. 4) Included a safety fuse to protect the control board in case of a short in the water pump. They also shipped very quickly and I received it in two days. Installation was straight forward. I checked the components it said to in the instructions with my multimeter - mostly checking resistance of different items. Then took my time to make sure I didn't make any mistakes when disconnecting and connecting wires. Plugged it back in, set the washer size (per the instructions) and has been working great ever since! We have ran 6-10 loads in the last week since it has been repaired with no issues. We noticed the clothes are actually getting cleaner now! We think that the washer was randomly draining the water during the cleaning cycle and with it the soap! Washer would refill with more water to compensate, but this means we were washing at first with soap, then would basically as the cycle went on and more of the water was drained and refilled at the end we were probably more rinsing rather then washing. Not sure if this was the case or not, but it makes sense to me what what we were seeing the last couple of weeks. Based on my experience I would recommend fixing or replacing the washer right away rather then trying to limp it along. Once the control board starts going bad with one thing who knows what else it is doing wrong in the washing cycle! Thanks again to Dadoes for all the great help here!...See MoreDouglas Farquharson
