My parents house is like that, but there’s a wall with a wide doorway into the area with the vanity, so it’s open but also easy to close off by just putting a curtain rail up. It’s also oriented to the room such that if you only use enough light at the vanity to wash your hands for a midnight potty run, it really isn’t enough to bother someone in the bed if you place the bed sensibly. Getting ready in the morning would be trickier if you needed to do makeup and so on so needed proper lighting, so that’s where a screen or a curtain would come in.

I'm afraid I agree with GreenDesigns. They are wonderful, but you will ruin your bathroom's design integrity if you use them in the wrong place, and I think that is the wrong place. Your bath mirrors must hang centered on your sinks, or the composition will drive you crazy, not to mention having to stand to the side to get your face centered in the mirror. And they are much too powerful in design to work flanked by two more, unless you just mirrored the whole wall. Then you could hang one in the middle on top of it. Surely you can find good places for both of them? Do you have a fireplace with equal space on both sides of the chimney breast, for instance? They'd look great hung over a pair of bookcases that were, say, 3' tall and 4' wide. Or on the end walls of your dining room, to hang them opposite each other on those walls? if you use the short walls, the distance between them will minimize that eternity thing that happens when mirrors are hung opposite each other. Or hang one upstairs and one down, if you have an upstairs.

Thanks for all the replies. J Design - the ceiling is 8 feet high. To the left of the photo (unpictured), there will be a new 60x30x18 tub. The back wall, pictured, is 80" including where the tub is. That leaves 50" and realistically 48" to play with if I space the edge of the sink at least 2 inches away from the tub. After looking more closely, I'll need a pedestal sink narrower than 22", the sink pictured is 19" and the tub now is 29" on the most outer part. ACM, I think unfortunately, having even a small vanity would seriously crowd the tub, or vice versa. We hope to put a partial glass enclosure but need to think about if we can hinge it at a place that still gives us room to exit the shower near the sink. Does this all make sense?

I don’t have my heart set on that light or even Edison bulbs necessarily - it was purely an example of a light that I “thought” might work since it was wide enough to cover that spot on the wall. Honestly right now with other projects that we have going on, I really don’t know if want to go down the road of cutting drywall, moving the box, patching, etc. especially considering that we plan on replacing our cabinets in the near future. But I’ll show your comments to my husband and see what he thinks since he’d be doing the work! I do have a window pane mirror that I will try but I still kind of think I’d like a light of some sort. The space between the cabinets is about 42”. There was also a straight wooden valance between the cabinets that we just removed as well. I figured that was a dated look and needed to go too. I like the idea of the larger feature asymmetrical style fixture a lot. The 2nd one - Charleen - is pretty cool! I’ll definitely look into that. And that wooden shelf will go too (forgot to mention that initially) although I am open to using more stylish shelves if I needed to fill the space. I even mulled over the idea of putting a single light where the box is (off-center) and then decorating around it with maybe floating shelves or something to fill the space. I know, I know - probably a bad idea but it was a passing thought. At this point just about anything would be better than the Hollywood lights! Hers another pic of the over sink area if it helps.
