Kenmore Oasis Dryer F43 & F45 Error Codes

I purchased the Kenmore Oasis Washer and Dryer a couple of months ago. I have already had one dryer replaced and I am now having the identical problems with my second dryer. The Oasis Dryer is a gas dryer with the double vent motor.

I am repeatedly receiving the error codes F43 and F45. The F43 code appears when you try to restart the dryer cycle after you have stopped the cycle from running by either using the "Stop" button or by just opening the dryer door. The F45 code is an error that occurs in the middle of a drying cycle. The dryer will completely stop running in the middle of a cycle. When you return to remove your clothing you find the F45 blinking and the clothes are still wet.

With the first dryer none of the repair men or the repair center knew how to approach the problem and after three repair calls they simply decided to replace the dryer since they did not know what else to do. The repair man was just here again and this time phoned into the repair center and they had him run a diagnostic test that showed him the errors that have been occurring and also tested the unit to determine if there was an electrical problem in my home that was causing the error. Fortunately there is no problem with the electricity in my house. He said another possible cause can be a partial obstruction of the dryer vent. He also found that my dryer vent was clear and functioning properly.

The repairman has ordered two different control boards for my dryer. The repair center told him that serial numbers prior to "MT18" have been having this problem. My unit has a serial number beginning with "MT17." Does anyone with a serial number after "MT18" have this problem?

I wish I found this site prior to purchasing the Oasis washer and dryer, it would have saved me a lot of time and headaches. I am now aware that many people have been having the same problems.

Has anyone who has had this problem had it completely resolved by replacing the control boards???

Right now I am trying to decide what to do next. Should I attempt to get it repaired again, get a third replacement dryer or just try to see if they will let me get a totally different washer and dryer?

At this point I am tired of dealing with this situation and would like to get it resolved. If I decide to get different units can anyone recommend another washer and dryer that will not bring me the same aggravation?

It *seems* as though the new control board does fix the problems. I have one with the new control board, but it was plugged in incorrectly (make sure they put the wires in the top slot).

Now that it's hooked up right, I haven't had anymore trouble with it, but it's only been since last Wednesday. I hadn't had this many trouble free loads in a row since I'd gotten it a few weeks ago though so I'm hopeful. GL!

I should have added that my serial starts with MT21 and it had more of a problem with not shutting off when the clothes were dry than the F codes.

I thought they all had a small agitator at the bottom. Oh well, anyhow we had our set delivered at the new house July 22nd. My washer and dryer are both with the glass doors. I have had no error codes or real problems with mine. They seem to wash well as long as you do not overstuff the washer and distribute the pieces lining the side of the machine. I don't have any complaints but more questions for the Oasis Elite owners. First I suppose soaking is an impossibilty. I do select the stain and prewash/soak selectors when I have clothing with stains, but I do miss filling my washer with water and letting the very soiled items soak for a half hour or so. Second question is the fabric softener dispenser. My last few loads it seems there is a small amount of the blue goopy residue from the downy. I tried diluting the downy but that did not work because it redused the softener effectiveness. Does my washer need to be put through a "washer" wash with the bleach? I have had no mildew problems at all so I have not thought about washing it yet. How often is it recommended? (cannot locate the manual) Thanks.

Browsing through old posts and found this and had to reply. We bought our Kenmore Elite Oasis set in April 2006. The dryer was the first to need repair. They replaced the control board. Dryer has never broken since though it doesn't sense small loads correctly and they will be damp after the dryer finishes. The washer -- ugh. I can't recall the order but it's been repaired (ie we paid for the year long warranty 3x) for faulty control board, hinge snapped (rust and it did rust/fail again but wasn't worth fixing because it'd just do it again), faulty control board that locked my laundry in a wet tub for three weeks before the technician could get out and fix, and for the past six months it's been throwing the uL until finally no amount of begging, coaxing and pleading could get a cycle to finish. My husband has opened it up a few times trying to avoid calling the repairman because at this point we were fed up. We've had to repair these machines just about yearly since purchasing. Sears has refused to do anything but charge us for repairs or buy another year long warranty. That machine has so much rust throughout the insides I was shocked. The washers are absolute junk. Terrible design and Sears did nothing to make it right with those of us that were unfortunate enough to trust in their product and purchase one. We will *never* buy another Kenmore product just because of how terrible their service has become. I can understand they goofed and had a miserable design. It didn't get tested enough before release. But there was no attempt at making it right with their customers. I called before we decided to junk this machine and all they wanted to do was charge another $230 for another year warranty. That would've put our total repair costs in the $600 range. FWIW, we do know that it's an actual whirlpool product marketed and sold under the Kenmore name. Which is why I couldn't bring myself to even look at any whirlpool washers. I had my list down to two choices -- Electrolux and Samsung and opted for the Samsung because it offered more choices for less money. We are also far wiser...we not only bought a 4 yr extended warranty but I'm fully prepared to have to replace it in 5-6 years. We didn't purchase from Sears either. :P

Look in your manual and you will see the Sears Lemon law number to call---------if you have had ten service calls you should get a new dryer--------please read your manual...have the dates of your service calls and what was done.

Here is the ph number again: (800) 847-9083. We have an appt scheduled" to receive the updated electronic control board,service and labor-@ no charge" per the product resolution customer service rep. You may assume all went well if I do not post a follow up. DO ask the product resolution customer rep to REPEAT your model #, serial #, your ph # and address (she typed part of the serial # incorrectly which could disqualify you receiving replacement recall). The customer serv reps' work environment is NOISY (she replied "there are 213 problem resolution reps in the same room"). VERIFY what you are hearing the rep say and ask kindly for a summary why you called and what the resolution is to be. She spoke rapidly and had an accent. Verify any numbers you have not verified (including your ph # and address) at the end of the call. The customer resolution rep had obvious experience handling the process, obviously streamed lined due all the years of issues complaints and it took about 20-25 minutes total time, most time was waiting for her to process the info she enters. Our Kenmore Oasis washing machine has been highlyt problematic issues during the start cycle and rinse cycles as well as frequent unbalanced loads (error code: UL). Our model and serial numbers complied with the recall (I have read this is a "silent", unadvertised recall. We have an appointment scheduled "to receive an updated electronic control board and the labor service at no charge". Hope this works out (believe it when I see it and when it continues as resolved) and wishes for resolutions to those who are working towards theirs. We all learned a big lesson in the world of electronic motherboard computerized washers and driers: buy the old fashioned, dependable washers and driers with knobs! (I'm staying this route with everything appliance and vehicles). I will def will stay my computer pref as a MacGurl though!

I too purchased the Kenmore Oasis. I also had my dryer replaced within days of recieving it. Since May, I have had 3, yes 3 control panels replaced due to F43 and F45 codes. I also have the washer which I feel doesn't do an adequate job of cleaning, so I will be returning my set for something else. I'm afraid to keep a dryer that keeps glitching out. I'm afraid I'm not home to check the serial number on mine!

Mine throws the F45 code every couple of weeks. I haven't had a chance to call service yet, but I sure wouldn't want to get a different washer/dryer becouse of it. It's no big deal to me since I have a 5 year PA and I wouldn't get rid of the Oasis Washer and Dryer for any other pair. Problem or not, it's still the best dryer out there.

Do you all have gas dryers? I have an electric, the timer seems to stall when you open the door or even by itself. But I have never had an error code.

My unit would stall too, from day one, I just figured you were not supposed to "interrupt it".....

My model is a #MT22
