Fun new tote bag

This was my weekend project. Well, this and babysitting Grant Saturay night! LOL

There are lots of pockets. All the outside ones are usable and there are more inside.

How cool! A tote for the beach or pool, office, Moms with the 100 things they need for toddlers, a school girl, the possibilities are endless.

Oh, that's bad, Trina! Poor Fox! We haven't had to deal with that here, thank goodness!!! Okay, and those of you saying to talk to the doctor, well, that is what I am pretty sure the email he read was about. He had gone to the doctor, and while he was there, joked around with his doctor that his wife thought he needs the blue pill. The doctor asked if we were trying to have any more kids, and when he said no, the doctor I guess told him that if he keeps losing weight I'll think he's a new man! And I was SO pissed that the doctor didn't take his joking seriously!!! Isn't a doctor supposed to dig when someone mentions something like that lightheartedly??? But, please don't think I'm not getting any - it's not that bad - it just doesn't last! But, he certainly makes up for it, so I'm not complaining too badly! ; ) As far as childbirth, I've been both ways. I didn't want to have drugs with any of them, but I have trouble going into labor on my own. So, I have had 3 births with a pitocin drip. Yuck!! Once it starts working, it makes it fast and hard. With all three of them, I had some painkiller, something they put in the IV, to take the edge off - I don't remember what it's called. With William though, I did go into labor on my own. (Though the doctor says it was because he had checked my cervix that morning.) So, no pitocin, no pain meds. And he was almost 9 lbs. - 8 lbs. 15 oz. And I have to say - that was my easiest labor! Incredibly painful, but maneagable. OMG - when I had William, I have this funny memory! I tore like crazy when I had him. The next day when I went to go pee, I used the little squirt bottle that they tell you to use to clean yourself afterwards, and I accidentally touched myself. It felt like there was a ball down there - I was swelled up so huge!! That was one of the weirdest feelings ever!!! Melissa - I don't know how you did that at home! We talked to a midwife when I was pregnant with Lily, but decided to stick with my doctor. But, on our own???? Scary! My mom said that her mom gave birth on their kitchen table - all 8 kids. And most of the time, the midwife didn't make it in time. She remembers her dad delivering her younger brothers and sisters. Wow - that is so cool Melissa!

Very nice & handy with the pocket!! I made a tote once, I liked the 1 another lady had & it was simple so I thought it would be great for carrying around a crochet project instead of the doubled plastic bag I usually carried. Made it with a heavy cloth(kind of like kettle cloth) floral on outside solid inside with 2 long dowels that went through the tops with wooden knobs on ends. I found it very useful & started taking it to park while my kids were swimming I'd go out & find a tree to sit under & crochet. I hear 2 guys discussing taking a purse & I glanced up & noticed I was only 1 around, I spread my crochet work out so I could slip my wallet into the crochet bag, gathered up my stuff while looking at my watch & saying out loud,Oh no, we're late! & walked fast to fence & yelled for my kids to come right now we are late!!! So we left & then I told them that other people had left & I hadn't noticed until I heard someone was going to be robbed & realized it was me. Yr. Elvis died & my FIL had died right before that so I wasn't as alert as I should have been. That tote sure came in handy tho, they would have gotten a surprise if they had taken my purse. Thanks for all the compliments. I got the screen at Menards (don't know if that's a national chain?) It's called Pet D Fence and it was 48 wide by 84 long, I think I paid about $10-12 for the roll and it's going to make a lot of bags. You can by the screen at quilt shops sometimes too but it's really spendy, from 10-15 dollars a yard. The pattern I used is called Screen Play and it's from my quilt shop but you can find it on line too. I've put a link below. I'm not recommending this on-line company because I've never shopped it but this is the pattern, you can find it many places on-line. Here is a link that might be useful: tote pattern

How cute and very colourful. I love what you did on the inside of the bag Jenni!

I have some old jeans around here that I had been saving for material that would make an extra big tote bags. LOL I just don't have the talent for doing anything with them. I did make a tampon and pad holder with jean material when I was in highschool but I sewed it by hand. I am useless with a machine.

99% of what I make I give away! I don't want this stuff, I just want to make it! LOL
And this I will give away too. I have no need for it. I'll find some unsuspecting person that I think will like it and send it to them.
That's the best part of making stuff, surprising someone with it.

For your information, BunnyLover, jeans were removed from the endangered apparel list sometime ago so it is not only legal, but PC to use them (jeans) in a responsible and glue free manner.

Perhaps you are confused with the dickie, the REAL dickie with long, long flags and a slight shoulder, which remains on the Endangered Apparel list despite the attempt last year to copy and market a very flimsy copy of the dickie.

Jenni, that bag is adorable and so colorful, I love it! You have access to the best fabrics, I swear. What a great idea, too. I love all the pockets, both outside and inside. The way the handles attach is wonderful and fun. I think you should it list it somewhere! It's very beachy and tropical and would be great for a vacationer to take to the beach.

Ah, the dickie. Was that the most annoying piece of clothing ever invented or what?

I made one similar but tried to use the pants leg to make the shoulder strap. Could never get it right so the bag is just packed away someplace, unfinished.

That's really cute, though.
