Kenmore HE3t washer

I read so much on this and other forums about these machines and What you all are forgetting and I can vogue for this and prove it because we ripped our washer down......and I have pics... the mold will collect behind the SS tub in the plastic drum housing... every repair man told me NO POSSIBLE WAY!!!! well I was so sick of being sick and my husband decided time to buy a new washer we did and a (top loader i will add). and when the top loader was delivered we ripped the front loader totally apart (any one that would like to see pics you can email me) but be forewarned they are GROSS!!!

I have done all the maintenance they have recommended and nothing helped (bleach, cascade, OXY, vinegar, leaving door open (which i may remind anyone is a risk if you have toddlers ) oh yes and lets not forget the washer magic they push down your throat to buy every time a sears tech comes out) I have a family of 6....4 girls and 2 of them babies so I have a lot of laundry....I will be more then happy to share what we found was hiding in the washer's this is not something you can see until you rip it totally down.

Me too please. I have to decide this week what I am going to get. So much I am reading about front Loaders is making me rethink my decision!

Kenmore is not a real brand - Kenmore is a rebranding of appliances made by other manufacturers (e.g. Whirlpool, Samsung, LG) sometimes with a few extra features. One big drawback to Kenmore appliances is that you're stuck with Sears warranty service which is provided by A&E which has a terrible reputation. If there's a particular Kenmore appliance you're interested in, you should find out who the actual manufacturer is and then buy the appliance from them.

gzec, does your washer have an internal heater? If so, my suggestion would be to run a couple of sanitary cycles with bleach first and then with liquid dishwasher detergent. If you don't have sanitary, the longest and hottest cycles your machine can achieve should work as well (it may be Whitest Whites, or something similar). Clean out the drain trap, the rubber seal around the door opening (make sure you pull back the rubber seal and get into all the nooks and crannies ;-) and the detergent/softener dispenser (including the dispenser drawer opening in the machine). Oh, and don't forget to run off the cold water before you begin your hot/sanitary cycle. Basically, you need the hottest possible cycle with strong detergent or bleach in order to kill the mold and mildew. My old Duet Sport without a heater had an occassional smell issues when I didn't know any better about HOT washes. My new LG with an internal heater (I regularly run HOT and SANITARY washer in it) has absolutely no trace of mold, mildew or smell after a year and a half of use. You may need to do some experimentation to find what is right for you. Everyone has different water, clothes and dirt on the clothes. I use a concentrated liquid, not a powder, but I have soft water and use only a scant TBSP for small to med loads. A good start would be to try about half of the ammount recommended on the box then go up from there for large or dirty loads. If you can see suds then you have enough or maybe too much detergent. I only rarely have any suds left in the gasket when I open the door. Fluffy things like towels can create more suds, so experiment with non-fluffy things.

Would like to see your photos also. Mold and crud can buildup on the plastic drum in any TL or FL washer. This is not a new concept to FLs. Perhaps it may occur more frequently with FLs due to people oversudsing and the water level not being as high as it is with a TL.
