I know Mush. I have to drive to Welland in the morning, and I'm not looking forward to it. It's my last day there and I'm dreading the drive.

We are also in a winter strom warning but we are going to get more ICE than snow. My
DS and I have plans to go shopping during the day and out to a movie in the early evening. If
we get the ice then we will be sitting home. The weather is to get better from Saturday on
to next weeek. 49 Saturday, 52 Sunday then by Tuesday 57!!!

Why do people have to clear store shelves - to survive for one day - well, maybe two! Usually when I see their carts regularly piled so high that the stuff is about ready to fall off ...

... I figure that they're carrying enough to last for at least a week!

Tell me where to go (if you'll pardon the expression) ... and I'll come to drive you to work in the morning! Well, we can start out, anyway ... maybe arrive.

That's one of the great things about retirement ...

... when the weather's bad - just look out the window and say, "I didn't want to go out today, anyway!".

Which, to my mind, is a great incentive-producer for starting on a plan to (wait for it) ...

... retire early!

What are they telling us ... at the credit union today they had a big sign saying, "getting ready for the 30 year adventure" (i.e. retirement). I don't need to tell you that the RRSP (Registered Retirement Savings Plan, for you U.S. folks) season is upon us, once again - deadline for contributions related to last year's business is Feb. 29.

I think that there are viable alternatives for many people, by the way.

we have about 500 schools closed already, and it's "only" 2+" yet, with another 5" expected...dh was going to sleep in but his first appt was at a school so woke him up...i'm hoping he comes home...i'm carless! (it's in the shop...wipers "broke" again!)

It's here...snowing,drifting...blowing snow....all of the above!
Thankfully I don't have to go out in it since I've joined the ranks of the retirees!
DH drove into the city this morning..I imagine it was a very slow commute!

We got 7 inches last night. No school again for the second time this week. The kids didnt have school on wedenday because it was 40 below with wind chill. The have started to fight with each other. I think we will bake cookies and watch a movie together.

It snowed all night here(Central Illinois). We got about 6" and the wind is blowing.

We've had 40 inches and it's still coming down.
My car made the news last night. Well, the mountain of snow my car is UNDER made the news. It's been buried for two weeks.
For the first time in recorded history, the schools have been closed for five days now.
Our county has been declared a state of emergency.
DBoss' wife has been off work all week because he doesn't want her driving on these roads.
But I can *walk* my butt in here every morning in this carp.

LOL You are right Rhonda. Unless we are having more snow our "big winter storm" for the Windsor area fizzled. When it comes right down to it those weathermen even though they can see the weather pattern on the radar they really don't know what Mother Nature is going to do.

We were told to expect between 10 inches at first which then went to expect between 6 and 8 inches and the snow was to hit at midnight. Snow didn't start to fall until after 3:00 am so I knew it must have missed us.

We ended up with about 2 inches and it is already starting to melt from the trees.

So much for that. LOL Everyone was expecting this major storm and was excited about it. Neighbour Tom had his snowmobile out of the garage in hopes he could use it today.

Winter snows aren't what they used to be and even then when we had lots of snow the weathermen didn't get all excited about it - they didn't have the technology but aren't we supposed to expect snow in winter?

I think from now on I will forget the weatherman and just look out my window to see what it is doing outside. LOL

Here just east of Toronto we had about foot fall by noon,DS shoveled the driveway and front steps,but now it's started to really come down and the winds are picking up,so it looks like it will have to be all done again later on tonight.
He's moving into his new apt tomorrow,so I'm praying that it will stop later tonight---going to be difficult to get things moved into a moving van with piles of snow around the doorways.
Did I say I hate winter!

further east of some of you,we got hit with about 10" by 10 a.m.,and then freezing rain ontop of that....its a little windy right now....but not much happening out there..not sure what is coming next.
North of me,where I used to live,they had little,very little..not even an accumulation of 2" by 1 p.m.

We got 8.5 inches from yesterday's snow. I'm in Joliet IL.

At least the university shut down today so I got to stay home and take care of this cold I have. More crazy weather is ahead though. Rain on Monday but more snow for Wednesday.

I may not love the snow but I sure do enjoy the "freebie" day off!!!

I woke at 4 a.m. and looked out the window to see nothing! When the alarm went off at 6:30 a.m. we had about 4" of snow! The drive into work was very slow and slippery but we made it. By the time I was in the parking lot we were getting rain and by noon it was freezing rain for the afternoon. Then at about 4p.m. it cooled down and the snow started piling up. The drive home would have been worse but the sanders and salt trucks had been out all day so it wasn
t so bad. I was supposed to have company for the night from London Ont. but they did not risk the drive so will come for breakfast instead. My birthday dinner will have be postponed until another weekend. February birthdays SUCK!!! I think I'll change mine to August 4th. I always get ripped off because of the weather.
