Building for snow
Comments (30)jane, I have no clue. My husband simply requested a quote from our mechanical sub, but we didn't look into all available options. Dreaming, that is quite a photo. Good luck with that! Our daughter is in her first year at Michigan Tech and is loving it in the Keweenaw, especially this week during Winter Carnival. I joked recently that she can't really be my daughter because we took her to visit a college in warm, sunny Florida but instead she chose the #1 snowiest college in the US. She told me last week "it's so warm out ... I'm not wearing a coat" when it was 10 degrees, a relative heat wave after the previous week's -48 wind chills. My husband is also a Tech grad, so I guess she gets her love for winter from him....See MoreOur stuff shoehorned into a rental
Comments (37)Red lover, the stuff on the bookcase is 1930s-40s pottery with two handles, "ears" or lugs, mostly. There are some other eras and shapes thrown in because the colors were compatible. This all started out in a powder room painted a similar color. The one color I don't like so much in its context is the green kitchen color. I like the color but I think it makes the countertops look pink by comparison....See MoreMoved into "rental"
Comments (2)It's not unusual to feel that way - that vague sense of regret and feeling as if you don't have a home.... but you really have a very short time (2 months will pass in a blink) before you will be in you new 'home'. And musicgale is right that being in you in-law's house is probably stirring things up, too. If it makes you feel better (or at least not alone) we sold our home of 24 years last Nov and moved into a rental in a new state, no friends or family closer than 700 miles, and we JUST closed on the land we will build on last Thurs - and you know how long the rest of that process will take!! You'll get through this and be so busy getting settled in your new home in just a short time - be patient and focus on how your dream is coming true....See MoreOrganizing in our rental
Comments (4)We've been missing the glasses for 3 weeks. Since I drink soda from the can that didn't bother me, but DH was drinking his milk from a mug. He found the glasses in the basement--the box was properly labelled "Kitchen" and "Glasses" but it got put down in the basement (where it didn't belong) We also found the clamps (for some reason, we've decided to do woodworking) I've decided I didn't keep enough cutting boards out. This weekend, I'll find a few from the basement storage and bring them to the kitchen. I don't like to stop what I'm doing and clean off a cutting board while preparing dinner (and tomatoes and strawberries don't go together) and I ran out of cutting boards today. I kept the George Foreman grill out and actually used it already :-)...See MoreRelated Professionals
