Temperature control in HE machines

If it takes a while for your water to start running hot, then "hot" washes in an HE washer are going to consist of mostly cold water, and will be warm at best. Similarly, "warm" washes will probably end up cold. At least, that's true for a machine without a water heater. What about machines with a heater? Do they regulate "warm" and normal "hot" washes, or only super-hot cycles? The manual for the LG 2455 (a tempting machine to consider, even for a FL-phobe) says "Your washer features a heating element to boost the hot water temperature for Extra Hot settings. This provides improved wash performance at normal water heater settings." That sure sounds like the heater won't help with warm and normal hot washes. Does anyone know the true facts, for the various HE brands?
