My chairs aren't that heavy, but the breakfast room gets a lot of use as that is the only dining table we have. (no formal DR) It is also the main pathway out to the back yard, so we let the dog in and out through that room seemingly countless times every day.

I've had the FLOR for a year and a half. They stick together really well. If I look closely, there are tiny gaps here and there, but not enough to bother me. The squares themselves are quite heavy, and with the rubber backing, want to stay put.

As for cleaning, I can tell you that about a month after I put them down, my dog had a monster accident. I got to test out the pull 'em and wash 'em theory in the driveway. Indeed, they did hose off and dry just fine. This past holiday season, we seemed to collect a lot of stains. I was kind of dreading pulling the stained squares, so I figured I'd try to spot clean them first. I used plain water and a microfiber cloth. The "stains" are gone.

The pattern I ordered is called Needlepoint Stripe. When they first arrived, there were a number of squares with pulls and they had to be replaced. I found the customer service at FLOR to be quite disappointing. I had made an error in measuring and needed five extra squares. I asked them to throw them in with the replacement squares, not only to save on shipping, but to be a little greener...fewer boxes/fewer UPS deliveries. I felt that it was a reasonable courtesy to ask for since they had sent me tiles that really should not have made it past QC.

Not only did they refuse to do that, the woman I dealt with really made me feel like she was doing me a favor even taking care of the defective tiles. We had numerous e-mails and a few phone conversations and the attitude was persistent.

I think this pattern has some inherent weaknesses that you might not find with other designs. I kind of expected them to pull the design, in fact. But, it has worn well enough, given the traffic, and I still adore the pattern and colorway (Ginger) I chose.

My client had them under a dining room table and there was not a problem with them getting pulled apart by her chairs. Stains on hers seem to clean up well. The only thing that left a mark was latex paint (coral latex paint on a medium blue tile)--and the tile wasn't ruined, but you could see a faint stain.

Another client of mine has these under his office chair and they also seem to stay put.

We've had them under our DR table for about 2.5 years, and it's been great. I pull them up for a good clean every 4 months or so...just scrub them in the tub and lay them out on a tile floor with a fan to dry. Then they look good as new.

I sometimes stick the outer perimeter together to get them to stay put, but sometimes I don't, and it's not a big difference.

Laura, I'm so happy you asked this question because I've been in search of the perfect area rug for my ladies parlor and FLOR never crossed my mind.
Are you in NE by any chance? If so we live pretty close to one another because I'm north of Omaha.

Hi justgottabeme - we do live in NE! Just a couple of transplanted Southerners living in Lincoln. So nice to see another Nebraskan on the forum!

I just posted an article about DD2 picture wall, and the last paragraph talks about her FLOR tiles. They are in the LR, but she has 4 dogs. They stay together even without the dots, although they plan on putting the dots on.

;D @ Amy. She's 22yo, and knows what she wants - most of the time. She was worried striped rug wouldn't look so great with her funky, fun sofa pillows. She's into purple now and that brought it into the room.

Perfect timing for this question! I was heading out to the home improvement store today to look at carpet tiles because I have a 9'x9' breakfast room and rugs are never made in that size.

So even after all of this great advice and encouragement... I have to admit I have not bought my FLOR tiles yet - I have a 9 foot long dining room table and so to get all of the tiles I need it is going to run me about $1k. (Sigh)

They have sales about twice a year.

Remember, even though it is expensive, you can move it around, reconfigure it for different spaces. That kind of flexibility adds additional value for me.

I've not seen them lately, but Target used to carry some FLOR tiles. I also found that Straw, Sticks & Bricks in Lincoln (720-O Street) carries FLOR tiles. Either place may at times have some on clearance.

How do these tiles do on a hardwood floor? I'd like to put them under our table but don't want the hardwood to discolor or stick to it.
