I would want to see some contrast with your bakers table to set it off...Would your taupey gray be way light?

First I thought 'definitely wood' to set off the baker's table, but then there's the flooring and the stools.

Is that color palette for the sitting area or the kitchen or both? Will it somehow connect with the baker's table color?

Will a gold granite work on taupey gray cabs? Something that will go with some of the movement color that's in the granite?

The color palette is just a table runner I have that I love the colors in. The greenish blue is so close to the color of the bakers table. I thought wood too... but I don't want dark wood (like the color of the dining table top) cause I think it would too much set a tone of a too traditional kitchen. The idea for the color palette is more or less a whole house concept. The house is tiny and pretty much will be open to all... at least the living area. I don't really think I want a goldish granite so maybe the Yellow River won't work. I mention it only because I think it's a pretty stone. I'm leaning toward quartzite, marble or something with "rivers" running through it, not a speckly granite. I'll post back with some paint color ideas (I saw one recently in a thread that I loved and have to search for it). Have to run out to take my friend out to her anniversary dinner since her husband is in Haiti working/helping. My DH just left for a 2 week "man" trip and PROMISED to hit the ground running when he returns. I'd like to have some focus by the time he returns.

Don't you have palm trees outside the sunroom? To me, that means bright sun and tropical colors-like coral or turquoise or any of the citrus colors along with espresso brown and rattan tan and terracotta. Taupey-gray is so "snowbelt".

I like the color of baker's table. I wonder how it or a lighter shade would work as a cabinet color.

I think you need to decide on either the cabs first or the counters first and then make the other decisions based on those choices. If you're set on the marble top, I also think that's going to somewhat limit your other counter choices. Pick your most important elements first.

Love the color of the baker's table. I'd want the cabinets to really set it off so that it's center stage. I think a warm, not-too-dark taupey-gray would be lovely. How about a pale color with yellow undertones like F&B House White?

malhgold... I own everything except the floor though we are certain that that is the floor we want. Do you really think that marble on the table will limit me? I never thought that though it's entirely possible. I just always have seen it with that kind of top. Not a cool marble... something others might consider "busy". I love Calcutta or Danby marble. I hope to find a warm one with gray and caramel movement.

I'm not at all set on paint by any means. In terms of wood color; I'd think I'd something inbetween the two "suedey" looking stripes on the table runner. The darker one down at the bottom of the pic of the runner and the lighter one under the green/blue in the middle. I'd love suggestions on wood type/stain.

I'll do some searching as to what I'm thinking of regarding paint color.

You're back! Have you given up the idea of soapstone counters? I think that bakers table calls for marble and it would look wonderful. I like the idea of painted cabinets with your other wood elements.

have you thought about combining colors on cabinets (like Rhome410's beautiful kitchen). Would you consider a little bit more of the beautiful color you put on the bakers table someplace else on the cabinets combined with some grey and/or wood?

HI Prill! I have not given up on the notion of soapstone if I could get a soapstone that looked like yours! Fl. Joshua uses M. Texiera and the only ones they have that look like that are the Santa Rita Venata which is very very soft. If I remember correctly, yours is a harder variety? I hadn't thought about doing two toned on the perimeter. Do you think my kitchen is too small for something like that? The rest that will be seen is an L. The oven stack really won't be seen my many people but me. Too bad... my Mieles are soooo purty! Lordy.. I can't wait to use them. I love grey, my family room sofa and love seat are charcoal grey leather. I think it'll look gorgeous with the creamy and brownish floor. What kind or wood/stain do you recommend?

Thanks for the suggestion bmore. I choose my partiuclar frig and it's location because it worked for a freestanding industrial looking frig. That way I don't have to build out any sides/panels. I definitely don't want to go too traditional/vintage. Just that touch.

Maybe the oven stack WOULD be a good place for the same color as the bakers table - you'd just get a little peak of it, or possible the sink base. A darker color stain like the color of your chairs and round table would be pretty with the bakers table - a few shades darker than the floor. Love that floor. It's tile, right? What color is your bakers table?

The table is a tweaked version of SW Halcyon Green. I kept going back and had them add gray, black, ... whatever three different times till I achieved the color I wanted. Yep... that floor is tile. We love it and are using it everywhere but the bathrooms. The house is small and we want to make transitions between rooms "growing old" friendly so it works for us. Maybe I'll do the wall the ovens are going in with that color or a version of it. I was concerned that the wood tone of the chairs and table top would be too traditional in color to do the cabs in them as well. Think so?

prill... I really am contemplating using IKEA boxes and DH will build the door fronts. The only doors I will have are at the sink base and corner. I'm planning on uppers only the long 10' west wall where the window is. I think I want SS and glass there; kinda like the horizontal IKEA ones (if not those exactly); but I'll play that by ear. The style will be a very wide rail/style shaker like this:

That is the Ultracraft door that I first fell in love with in the red birch. I think it's gorgeous but I'm just not seeing the reddish tone in my kitchen with the bakers table and floor. What do you all think?

wolfgang, thanks for the compliment. Those trees are Latanya palms. (not sure if I spelled it correctly) When the really mature, they'll form a canopy over the pool.

OH... and about wood cabs. I also adore walnut and teak but wonder if it would be too dark or if the teak would be too "streaky" with the floor.

I love those doors - have you gotten a sample to see if they would go with your floor etc. They don't look red in the pic.

No... but this is what i would have DH build. We need to go to the lumber yard and get a sample of the red birch to see how it goes with the floor and table. Have you seen pharoah's kitchen? He did all red birch ... DIY'd the entire kitchen himself; and it's one of the most beautiful kitchens I have ever seen.

I'm so glad you're considering marble for your fabulous baker's table, IMHO it just cries out for it! As I scrolled up and down your pics and layout, one idea that kept repeating was to tie the two free-standing tables together with the same blue-green paint color. Could you paint the presently white table base the same color as the baker's table? I also noticed the light concrete gray and the blue-green-sagey palms outside and wondered if you could use one of those for a cabinet color. Love the idea of the IKEA aluminum-framed uppers to give a touch of that industrial look you're after, and I think it will look great with the flour bins of the baker's table. Will that 36" sink be stainless?

I actually never thought of painting the dining table bottom. It's not really white but a creamy color with a brownish glaze. I can paint anything but do you think the bakers table color would make the dining table look too "french countryish"? I orginallly was set on a Silgranit sink but more and more I'm considering a curved front SS apron sink. I think it would tie in the curve of the hood and bins on the table. Something like this:

The issue with that is I wanted a sink with an offset drain because I planned on my trash pullout in the sink cabinet. I've yet to find a curved front SS sink with an offset drain... doesn't mean it's not out there though.
