Bathroom Paint Color - gold or green? (pic heavy. as always..)

One last room before I stop on the paint thing for awhile. My house is decorated in mainly red, green, and gold. Before I realized I was really into the red my color of choice was dark burgundy so my main bathroom is that instead of red. Whatever color I end up picking needs to go well with red also. For now this valance will stay (I still like it) but am considering moving it to the master bath and putting the red in this one to flow better with the rest of the house.

Bought a sample of Duron's Tobacco Road. I thought it would be a bit darker. The valance itself is rather an antique/tea stained type background color and I think it might blend too much with it. Like maybe I should go darker? Should I stay with the gold/brown paint choices or venture to green? I'm open to color suggestions.

Part II

I really like both the mirror and lights and they need to stay for now. BUT is the mirrow too small? Should the lights be moved out the sides farther? Silly me, when we built the house they originally had a light bar installed on the wall where it's suppose to be and I had them move it to the ceiling. Paying someone to move it and change it isn't something I feel like messing with right now. Cabinets and counter will stay as is also. I will be adding some knobs eventually. I just realized I don't have a full pic of the whole light. You should be able to get the idea. It attaches in th ceiling with a round bronzy looking back plate.

Ignore all accessories. I'm still not happy with them and change them often.

My hall that connects to the bathroom is painted Vista Mushroom Cream (here's a pic with the TR against it)

LR is BM Shelburne Buff and Kitchen/DR is BM Olive Branch.

If it were me, I would paint the BR in a rich cream color to let the pretty curtains and other accessories take center stage. If I were to go with a color, I would take the tiny blue/grey in the fabric and match with the grey in the flooring and look for a very subtle grey-blue/green wall color.

Wooo!!! Cat, I am stuck at home because of the snow storm so wandered around here not looking at anything in particular and came upon your thread. I totally agree with you on the shower curtain choice. Regardless of whether I have the money to spare or not, keeping those suckers clean is a nuisance over time. We have a glass shower door that was installed back in 2003 and I can't tell you how much I hate cleaning it. Not that the door is all that dirty, but a shower curtain is way easier, and you can change the look/style whenever you feel like it. Can't do that with a pricey shower door. Anyway, everything looks lovely as usual, including the "prom" dress :-) Love, love those circular tiles, and the floor tiles that look like fabric. Gorgeous. What colour is that again? It looks greyish on my monitor.

Your floor and granite are similar to mine. I pulled the blue grays from the granite for paint. I tried to go as gray as I could while still being in the blue family as I needed color in my windowless room. I used BM Silver Mist. My vanity is a dark stained cherry, but you might could go a little darker with your vanity. (I always wanted to say "might could" as I have a Southern friend who says that.) Little touches of chocolate brown accessories will look nice with the granite and paint.

kmc...I tried Olive Branch but it had too much gold in it and didn't look quite right. Anything with Gold seemed to fight the peachy tones of the floor. But it could just be my monitor?? ereed, I only have Ben Moore on my computer for real paint colors. I wish SW had something like this. I know Behr has one but I haven't used it yet. And remember, they WILL look different than the actual chips. I tried a few browns for you and a cream color. Yellow really seemed to fight with your floor and red is really hard to do on virtuals. They sometimes look cartoonish. Personally, I like the sage greens and the brown family. Southernfrenchie - Thank you! Very pretty space and those curtains look wonderful with that paint! I finally went to Lowes yesterday and grabbed paint cards of: LA Russet 6 LA Summer Pudding Waverly Tomato Red Waverly Cinnabar Eddie Bauer Crimson Glidden Terra Cotta Rose. I grabbed a few actual samples from comparing my BM paint cards and going by what I knew of the colors. Ha, when I got home I realized I grabbed such similar colors it's not even funny. Waverly Tomato Red looks like BM Burnt Peanut Red and similar to Raspberry Truffle. Glidden Terra Cotta Rose looks like the color name and is similar to BM Tucson Red. The color would work but it's not how I'm picturing the room. LA Russet 6 is a nice color. Similar to Currant Red. The other names above, the cards look very similar to ones I already have. I'm finally at my point of walking away for now. In the end I'll probably end up going with MR or CR. And just for giggles.. MR top, LA Russet 6 middle, CR bottom.

Thinking about the gray blue... Keep in mind whatever the color is needs to work with red also if I decide to change out the fabrics.

Thanks for posting those Threed. I don't know if we have access to that brand here. I like those colors though. I'll have to go to easyrgb and see if I can convert them.

I just painted my 1/2 bath BM Stonington Grey and works perfect with the creams/golds and Reds. And my curtains are very similar to yours. I have my hallway painted SW Whole Wheat and SG looks really nice against it as well. Also take a look at BM Grey Owl. It is a little more of a blue/green/gray

sheesharee, you have to order Ellen's paint through her website or call her but the store you pick up the order at is ICI Dulux paints. Or you can have it shipped. The paint is full spectrum color which means it has 7-8 pigments while most paint only has a few pigments. You cannot really duplicate the colors since she uses so many pigments. The paint is on the expensive side but is of excellent quality. And the depth of the color is wonderful. I like Ellen's colors and most of her shades blend well with one another so that the struggle to get one room to flow with another is greatly lowered.

I really like the mustard seed. But if you made a choice of gold or green, I'd go with the gold. Or as someone said, a rich cream would be beautiful.
