I have an LG pair, similar to the Samsung, stacked. I have the pair about a brick's thickness off the floor. I'm 6' and that puts the dryer door at eyelevel. If you're short, the dryer controls will be harder to reach. Also, you'll need an extra long pigtail for the dryer power cord.

hollylh... I can't comment on brand as you want stacking and I have Bosch which does not stack (unless you go with the "smaller" European models.... but I can comment on second floor a bit... mine are one the second floor as I pointed out before, middle of the house, in a closet in a bathroom... they face each other with about 4 feet between their fronts.... basically they are surrounded by walls on all 3 sides... My house is almost 18 years old, so it's typical northeast US 2x4 construction, circa 1990.... We have negligible vibration problems. Once in a while if I really stuff the load in the machine (too many clothes!) then I will get some vibration when the washer goes into its top spin mode... otherwise, you don't know they are running... 100 year old house, I'm not sure what the construction was like.... IF you're not sure, it would most likely be best to open up the floor and look at how it is done and then decide if you need to redo the area.... or possibly go with one of the smaller machine sets... part of the vibration issue has to do with the weight and the the size of the load getting flung around... smaller machines are not quite as heavy and can't hold as much wet clothes... therefore less momentum to cause vibration... My late FIL had a one piece unit, washer (FL) on bottom and dryer on top... I think Fridgedaire??? but I don't remember any more... but he had this on the first floor of a 100+ year old house with no problems... It certainly wasn't "mega" capacity... otherwise, you may need to revisit "stacking"... stacking and pedestals both will add to the "sway" of the washer...

Wolf Steam over Wolf M sounds like a dream combo to me...If they ever get the M on the market! I agree with Gary (HI, GARY!!!) that, even though they seem not to have many problems, I think it's a shame Elux no longer has replaceable bottoms, as I think probably all ovens could benefit from replaceable bottoms. In addition to cleaning and replacing the bottom, it provides access to the hidden element. Dacor has a glass cover in the bottom, which I thought was a good answer, or at least they did several years ago. As far as porcelain issues, I also had problems with the porcelain in 2 Fisher and Paykel ovens (one blue, and one newer model with black interior), so would suspect DCS might have the same issues. I haven't heard of others with this problem, but there aren't many owners here on the forum, and I think F&P has been barely getting by for awhile, so I'm not sure they're selling much. They didn't replace my 2nd oven, which had electronic as well as porcelain issues, because they even stopped production for a time.They also had trouble finding me willing service people. F&P sent the wrong oven to replace the 1st one, which we noticed after they'd taken oven #1 out. So the guys had to reinstall the old oven, repack the wrong oven, and return another day to start the whole process over again when the correct oven arrived. F&P wanted to pay them only for one trip and one replacement, and it was a long struggle for them to get paid at all, or to arrange to send back the wrong oven. Surprise, surprise, that service outfit didn't want to come get the 2nd oven when it went bad. I don't relate any of the porcelain issues I had to self-clean. The self-clean in all 7 of my ovens has worked great. The Gagg has the best self clean in terms of getting the glass clear again, too. But the electronics in the F&Ps, the hated Monogram, and the Wolfs all held up fine to self-clean. In at least one of the Wolfs, the porcelain showed problems in a cavity in which I'd never run the self-clean. Since I knew what to look for, I found it earlier in the 2nd and 3rd ovens than in the first. In that one, I think wiping it out after self-clean was the reason I found it, but not necessarily the reason it happened.

I planted two Cheyenne Spirit last season and their flower power was unbelievable. They bloomed non-stop like annuals do--and like most perennials don't--and I was expecting them to die like annuals over winter but they didn't. Both grew back vigorously but unfortunately the slugs wouldn't let them grow over 1" high this spring and they eventually were killed. I had scattered seed from them last summer however and I now have several seedlings growing here and there that the slugs haven't discovered...yet. I highly recommend Cheyenne Spirit for its tolerance of saturated winter soil (we set a new rainfall record last winter), blooming power and the ability to produce viable seed. Cheers from Cascadia
