Long-vent dryer in regular vent installation

My dryer vent is within specs for a regular dryer, and performs fine when it's clean. But I'm thinking of choosing a long-vent dryer anyway, when it's time for a replacement. It seems to me that a dryer which can push air through a long duct would also provide a margin of safety with a regular duct. Maybe even help prevent lint buildup by pushing it through faster. Does this make sense? Is anyone doing it?
