Thank you Theresa!! and I hope your holiday weather is cooler than ours!!! The closest I have gotten to Canada was through EPCOT lol and I love the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. I hope to one day see them in person. While I am so glad we have reason to celebrate our Independence, the heat and humidity makes it my least celebrated holiday! We run outside to put up flags - and run back inside. When my children were smaller I would fight the traffic to take them so see fireworks - sometimes getting home after midnight and getting up early the next day for work. Thank you! I hope the weather is better elsewhere in this vast country, than it is here. Today it is cool and raining. And Mary's husband wanted to go to the beach. Not so far from here so I doubt it was beach weather for them. We have had rain almost every day for what seems like ages. At Sat. night's church service, the youth choir sang as a closing hymn "Rain Down". So we will blame today on them. Hope it warms up for the 4th for y'all. Theresa

Lots of flags around here all year round. We even have a "Canada House" decorated "all Canadian" My flag flies all seasons. The minute gets a hole in it it gets replaced. I look out my bedroom window and see a huge Canadian flag waving in the wind every morning. The flowers in my flower pots are red and white like our Canadian flag. Not just on Canada Day. Just because some people aren't "flag wavers" doesn't diminish how patriotic they are. You just have to cross the border once between Windsor and Detroit to realize that or to travel anywhere outside of the country. My luggage is even decorated with Canadian flag stickers. Travel to Holland and you will get a real good dose of how proud you are to show your Canadian patriotism. I belong to a group on FB, people who grew up in the same small town that I did. They live far and wide across Canada and some live in the US and many times a day something is posted to show how uniquely and proudly Canadian we are. If I participate in a KT swap, I always try to send items that represent Canada because I am patriotic just like those who live in the US are proud to show where they live. Maybe it depends what city you live or what area. We Windsorites are truly patriotic as are most of my friends across Canada. Here is a link that might be useful: Windsor's Canada House

Well I partied! Just finished cleaning the kitchen and had to sit down... We barbecued lamb chops, bangers, portobello mushrooms, and asparagus. Nibblies included hummous, baba ganoush, tzatziki. Too bad it rained just as we were about to eat. Had to rush indoors, but the dining room wasn't available due to the 2 sewing machines + assorted supplies (how do you think I got my screen name?) covering the table.

Anyway, we have quality leftovers for the rest of the week.

We were at the cottage.....poured rain all Canada Day I mean poured! LOL

Canada Day falling on a Wednesday kinda put a wrench in celebration in cottage country as folk would have had to take either Monday and Tuesday off , or Thursday and Friday, in order to have a long weekend.

So we had our Canada day celebrations last weekend. We had a big cottage get together, my contribution was pulled pork, from my smoker..... I'm a hero! LOL

After food we all boated over to the Marina for fireworks. Saturday was a beautiful day and gorgeous evening so things worked well.

Thanks again and I hope you all enjoy your upcoming July 4th holiday!

Well not too many Canadians over here to keep me company so there was no celebration but I did have a lovely afternoon taking some new gardening friends over to visit another lady who has a wonderful garden chock full of every plant she can squeeze in.

As it was a very warm and sunny day, she served us cool homemade lemonade as soon as we arrived. Then she passed around plastic bags, garden shears and straw hats to us all and we followed her through her amazing garden, snipping cuttings and pinching off seeds from dead flowers for us to take home. After an interesting hour or so of this she then served us tea and a Victoria Sponge cake she had made that morning. It was a truly enjoyable afternoon. Here are a couple of pics I took there. The first shows an exotic flower from the lily family and the second is a scented water lily from her pond.

So although I wasn't in Canada, it was a wonderful day.

I hope my fellow Canadians also enjoyed the holiday! Sorry about the rain over there Chase, but at least you got to have a party earlier!
