Tomato - Blender Mess ,have you done this?

I haven't grown any tomatoes yet . Have a plant in a 5 Gallon bucket, On my front Deck.

The deer haven't come up there yet.

I don't know if I want anymore tomatoes ???

Anyway: The Blender Mess was in the Kitchen.

I decided to make a large batch of Spaghetti Meat Sauce.

Filled the Blender with Chopped Tomatoes and Pulsed them.

When I took the container of Tomatoes off the Blender,

I turned the bottom the wrong way. Guess what ???

A Tomatoe flavored Kitchen !!! I never realized Tomatoes could fly 10 feet.

Go inside closed Cabinets and cover the Blender.

There were Tomatoes everywhere.

All over the Blender pushbuttons and the Worktop it was on.

And ME !!! Of course, couldn't leave me out.

Then, to top it off !!! you know how things Snowball ???

When I jumped back, I knocked over a Gallon of Iced Tea,

on the Worktop, Didn't realize !!!

I was too busy watching Tomatoes in Flight.

Ever try walking on a Tile floor, covered with Tomatoes.

The Purpose of this story is, to ask if anyone else ever

done things like this, or

can I take Credit for being the only one.

There must be some kind of an Award.Medal

Here is a Photo but it doesn't show how far to the Left,

the Tomatoes flew.

Or the mess on the Work top on the right.

PS: I think this is Lar's fault. He started me thinking of the Blender last week. lol

I've used a 'Juiceman Jr.' juicer to make my tomato juice for the past 8-9 years. Before that, I used a Squeezo strainer. The juicer is much less work, and was cheap, like $50 bucks. Last year, I bought a newer model because they now have a much wider shoot for dropping in the tomatoes, which means a lot less pre-cutting. The old one still works, too. I find that I have to put tomatoes through twice, sometimes 3 times for certain kinds. But, it's not hard to do. The first time is great for juice, the 2nd is juice or pulp, the third makes thick pulp that is great for making homemade ketchup if so inclined, or you can just mix it back into the juice. Wouldn't do it any other way now. I can juice a bushel of tomatoes start to finish, including washing them, in about 20 minutes. I do somewhere between 60 and 100 quarts of juice most years, so that tells you this machine is pretty durable. I also use it to make cider in smaller amounts (I don't use that much, and don't have a good way to store it in quantity except canning, and cooking cider kind of mutes the flavor, IMO).

^^^^agree; if you can handle the smell, there shouldn;t be anything to make people sick in it. I'd save the cat litter for the kitty box and not use it on the tomatoes. If you want and the ground isn't hard, just hoe the mushy parts under now, or bring a wheelbarrow full of sand/soil from elsewhere and cover the especially offensive parts, or speed them on their way by dispersing them with the hose. If you can't remove them though and the plants were diseased and something like gray mold sets in, that's too bad, maybe best just to chalk it up as an organic experiment and leave them to solarize, ferment/rot, the natural way. "I called an HVAC friend, and he told me to open the door, hold the switch manually, and see if that works. That time the system turned on and stayed on perfectly fine. He said it sounds like there is something that's restricting air flow and a limiter switch is engaging to prevent overheating..." I think your HVAC friend has a good lead as to what to investigate. Perhaps the door was originally not seated properly and was allowing just enough air so the limit switch did not trip. But when you took the door off and closed it again, you may have made a tighter seal and that little bit of air is no longer reaching the burner. It is an old furnace so anything is possible.

For the record I'm not a talented/gifted/instinctual cook. I personally prefer my food overcooked although nobody else in the household AKA my poor husband shares that preference. And I tend to get distracted easily. So I've definitely got my share of cooking oopsies. Once I picked up a container of cocoa powder to put into the batch of frosting I was working on. Knowing that stuff usually cakes and clumps, I gave it a quick upside down shake to easily spoon out powder. Yep, lid was loose and I spent the next hour cleaning up cocoa powder from floor, pantry, counters, fronts of cabinets etc. My husband likes to hand wash dishes and consistently leaves dish towels sopping wet which annoys me because I hate picking up a gross damp towel, especially one that was clean and fresh a few hours earlier. Had the bright idea to put a moist towel into the warm oven one night after dinner to dry out, thinking I'd just grab it in a few minutes. A few minutes turned into the next night when thank god I smelled something odd in my now preheating oven. It was dry though, I'll give myself credit for that. One Thanksgiving I hadn't taken the turkey out to thaw early enough and it was still semi frozen in the morning. I could not get my hands into the cavity to dig out the giblets, and eventually after poking around I figured maybe there weren't any so into the oven it went. There were, and I guess the turkey that year had it's own make-your-own internal giblet gravy flavor. My MIL wrote in her journal about the kids excitedly calling her later 'grandma! Mom found the turkey parts!'.

OH Lou I feel your pain! I have done that with gazpacho, with ice cream and I think the worst thing was I made margarita's and they not only flew but leaked everywhere, it was a sticky mess for a very long time! Where is Willie Mayes when you need him? Did you get your sauce done? :)

Oh, that stinks! At least it wasn't oil...as in a Fry Daddy filled with cooking oil. Not that I would know anything about that. LOL

The Sauce was delish.
Added a dozen chopped small Baked Meatballs plus 10 whole ones, Chicken Thigh and Sausage.

Mmmmum good, mmmum good, that's what Lou's Sauce is,
MMMMMUM GOOD !!!

Think that was Campbells Soup's ???

I thought I was done cleaning up, until I saw my my pants and shoes,this morning.
It was late ( very early this Morning ) when I was done
cleaning Tomatoes.

The Sauce was for my Daughter's Dinner tonight. When they come up.
Think I'll give her 5 , before I say Hello !!!

I wouldn't know whether to swear or cry. It will make a great story for dinner conversation and you have the photo proof.

LOL You're NOT done cleaning. You will still be finding tomato sauce in a month - 2 months - 6 months...ask me how I know.

Yup found some on the ceiling when a guest pointed it out to us about 3 months later - tiny little flecks of pea soup - how did we never see it before?

Oh, man! You've done it up right this time!! LOL

Just a note in case you mill your own flour.......make darned sure the bowl is ALL the way under the spout.....................OR you're PLANNING to lightly dust the entire kitchen with flour.

First, go change into something black before leaving the bowl ajar....

I'm not saying anymore........but there might be flour in the tray of my toaster if you looked.

Okay, I just recalled a nasty spill. I was taking a 6-quart crockpot (the old 3 legged kind) full of spaghetti sauce that had been cooking all day to a covered dish function. It was close to home so I didn't take much caution. I put the pot on the floor in the front of the passenger side. The car in front of me decided to stop at the yellow light; I slammed on the brakes and the entire pot fell forward filling the foot well and sloshing up under the dash board.

The car smelled for months.

Wow! Lou, that is world-class. You must have been really tired by the time you finished with cleanup.

I dropped a can of bacon grease from a cupboard over the stove. It ricocheted off the edge of a kettle of marinara sauce, tipping it over on its side. About half the sauce landed in my shoes, the other portion evenly distributed between floor, cabinets and stovetop. Not fun at all.

But the worst was after I'd dried cayenne peppers and decided to grind them. I learned food processors are NOT airtight. The whole kitchen was a cloud of red pepper dust. We were sneezing, gasping and wheezing for a week.

I am sure I am not the only one.

A pressure cooker safety valve blew and the entire content of this 9-quart cooker jet sprayed on the entire ceiling and walls and cabinets and the floor.

The kitchen had to be re-finished.

When I made pesto once I put all the "dry" ingredients together and then added the olive oil. The oil oozed out all over and into the blender. I had forgotten to put the "teeth" in the blender. The blender still smells like burnt olive oil and basil every time I use it! I have a food processed now, lol.
