Tomato - Blender Mess ,have you done this?

I haven't grown any tomatoes yet . Have a plant in a 5 Gallon bucket, On my front Deck.

The deer haven't come up there yet.

I don't know if I want anymore tomatoes ???

Anyway: The Blender Mess was in the Kitchen.

I decided to make a large batch of Spaghetti Meat Sauce.

Filled the Blender with Chopped Tomatoes and Pulsed them.

When I took the container of Tomatoes off the Blender,

I turned the bottom the wrong way. Guess what ???

A Tomatoe flavored Kitchen !!! I never realized Tomatoes could fly 10 feet.

Go inside closed Cabinets and cover the Blender.

There were Tomatoes everywhere.

All over the Blender pushbuttons and the Worktop it was on.

And ME !!! Of course, couldn't leave me out.

Then, to top it off !!! you know how things Snowball ???

When I jumped back, I knocked over a Gallon of Iced Tea,

on the Worktop, Didn't realize !!!

I was too busy watching Tomatoes in Flight.

Ever try walking on a Tile floor, covered with Tomatoes.

The Purpose of this story is, to ask if anyone else ever

done things like this, or

can I take Credit for being the only one.

There must be some kind of an Award.Medal

the Tomatoes flew.

Or the mess on the Work top on the right.

PS: I think this is Lar's fault. He started me thinking of the Blender last week. lol

I have this French mandoline from Lee Valley Tools. It ain't cheap, but is extremely sturdy, and the cutting width is infinitely variable. Keep in mind that it is very difficult with any tool to cut soft tomatoes uniformly thin, but otherwise, this gadget is great for all veggies, and it collapses quite flat for easy storage. Can't help you with a juicer, but my blender is a VitaMix 3600+ which is now over 25 yrs old and quite retro looking. I'll admit, I don't bake my eggshells...but I buy local eggs, and wash very thoroughly (if they had salmonella, my dogs would get it from the eggs, which I also feed raw). But I would imagine birds would be much more sensitive to anything on them than my dogs might be, so baking is a good idea. I had read that the baking was just to remove mineral oils put on the shell to help preserve the eggs and dry the shells out well, not to guard against salmonella. I just wash them out well with hot water, then store in the fridge until they're really dry. Then I grind them way down into a powder for the dogs...since I mix it with their raw food (one of my dogs can't have whole raw bones, so it replaces the calcium). It takes no time at all in the magic bullet to grind them to powder, if that's what you decide to do. I actually bought the food processor specifically to make dog food with (pulverizing veggies/chopping meat). I can't imagine using the MB for that...it would take me hours with those small quantities! :-)

Welllll.... I did manage to get started on the task after taking the rest of the day away from it. I talked to DH too, which was helpful and he was supportive of organizing them in a more efficient manner- including the possibility of getting rid of the old albums. Started this morning by quick sorting the box into piles based on time frames. Tried not to let emotions interfere. After looking at the old albums, I realize that they had been rearranged already and were out of order, as well as having quite a few blank spots. Add to that they are older and starting to yellow, so all the photos are out of those and into their proper piles now. So far have sorted a few piles, getting rid of any duplicates and any photos that are just bad condition or that I've always hated. Putting them in labeled plastic bags temporarily as I go. I think it will require a bit of fine tuning and for now I'm pulling out the obvious and seeing what is left- from there I can go through them yet again, and cull them further. It is time consuming, but I think it will be worth it in the end. Sort of thinking about going with photo storage boxes, where you have a bigger box that then holds a number of smaller boxes, which hold about 100 photos each. I like the idea of having the photos in that type of system, where you can pull them out and look at them by category if you actually do want to look at them, but it will depend on how many photos we are left with in the end, and if the boxes will be compact enough to make that a good solution. DH also offered to scan some into the computer. Might end up doing that too- not sure if we'd need the smaller organizing boxes if we just did that. Oh well, just thinking out loud now. If anybody here has done such a thing, I'm still listening. OK, now this topic can start moving down the list :)

"I called an HVAC friend, and he told me to open the door, hold the switch manually, and see if that works. That time the system turned on and stayed on perfectly fine. He said it sounds like there is something that's restricting air flow and a limiter switch is engaging to prevent overheating..." I think your HVAC friend has a good lead as to what to investigate. Perhaps the door was originally not seated properly and was allowing just enough air so the limit switch did not trip. But when you took the door off and closed it again, you may have made a tighter seal and that little bit of air is no longer reaching the burner. It is an old furnace so anything is possible.

OH Lou I feel your pain! I have done that with gazpacho, with ice cream and I think the worst thing was I made margarita's and they not only flew but leaked everywhere, it was a sticky mess for a very long time! Where is Willie Mayes when you need him? Did you get your sauce done? :)

Oh, that stinks! At least it wasn't oil...as in a Fry Daddy filled with cooking oil. Not that I would know anything about that. LOL

The Sauce was delish.
Added a dozen chopped small Baked Meatballs plus 10 whole ones, Chicken Thigh and Sausage.

Mmmmum good, mmmum good, that's what Lou's Sauce is,
MMMMMUM GOOD !!!

Think that was Campbells Soup's ???

I thought I was done cleaning up, until I saw my my pants and shoes,this morning.
It was late ( very early this Morning ) when I was done
cleaning Tomatoes.

The Sauce was for my Daughter's Dinner tonight. When they come up.
Think I'll give her 5 , before I say Hello !!!

I wouldn't know whether to swear or cry. It will make a great story for dinner conversation and you have the photo proof.

LOL You're NOT done cleaning. You will still be finding tomato sauce in a month - 2 months - 6 months...ask me how I know.

Have you looked UP?

Yup found some on the ceiling when a guest pointed it out to us about 3 months later - tiny little flecks of pea soup - how did we never see it before?

Oh, man! You've done it up right this time!! LOL

Just a note in case you mill your own flour.......make darned sure the bowl is ALL the way under the spout.....................OR you're PLANNING to lightly dust the entire kitchen with flour.

First, go change into something black before leaving the bowl ajar....

I'm not saying anymore........but there might be flour in the tray of my toaster if you looked.

Okay, I just recalled a nasty spill. I was taking a 6-quart crockpot (the old 3 legged kind) full of spaghetti sauce that had been cooking all day to a covered dish function. It was close to home so I didn't take much caution. I put the pot on the floor in the front of the passenger side. The car in front of me decided to stop at the yellow light; I slammed on the brakes and the entire pot fell forward filling the foot well and sloshing up under the dash board.

The car smelled for months.

Wow! Lou, that is world-class. You must have been really tired by the time you finished with cleanup.

I dropped a can of bacon grease from a cupboard over the stove. It ricocheted off the edge of a kettle of marinara sauce, tipping it over on its side. About half the sauce landed in my shoes, the other portion evenly distributed between floor, cabinets and stovetop. Not fun at all.

But the worst was after I'd dried cayenne peppers and decided to grind them. I learned food processors are NOT airtight. The whole kitchen was a cloud of red pepper dust. We were sneezing, gasping and wheezing for a week.

I am sure I am not the only one.

A pressure cooker safety valve blew and the entire content of this 9-quart cooker jet sprayed on the entire ceiling and walls and cabinets and the floor.

The kitchen had to be re-finished.

When I made pesto once I put all the "dry" ingredients together and then added the olive oil. The oil oozed out all over and into the blender. I had forgotten to put the "teeth" in the blender. The blender still smells like burnt olive oil and basil every time I use it! I have a food processed now, lol.
