Bosch 700 series cleaning issues

I've had my Bosch 700 series set for close to 9 months now, and am increasingly becoming dismayed at how it cleans (or rather doesn't clean) our laundry. We have a 2 year old daughter, and I guess this is becoming more so of an issue because since she's getting old, she's also getting a bit messier. Today I washed a load of clothes which was what I'd call a small to medium sized load. Several items belonged to her that had some dirt on them from playing outside, and a couple of items were mine. I washed them on the regular cotton warm cycle then threw them in the dryer without examining the clothes. When I was folding them, I noticed that most of her clothes that were soiled were still dirty! Not as dirty as when they went in the wash, but still, not close to clean. I wouldn't necessarily consider the clothes 'stained' because it was simply dirt on the garments, so I didn't treat them with a stain remover. I took the clothes, put them back in the washer, on the warm cycle again, and this time with a 30 minute soak. (BTW, I'm using Tide HE powder.) I put the detergent in (approx 1.5 - 2 tbsps), along with some Oxiclean powder (about 1/4 cup) for that cycle. I think the clothes came out slightly cleaner, but still some were still noticeably dirty, including a t-shirt my daughter was wearing about an hour before I put on the 're-wash' items. It had some dirt on it where she fell walking down a dirt road this morning, which didn't come clean. I feel like I'm using an appropriate amount of detergent and my hot & cold water is hooked up correctly (matter of fact, even when I wash items on 'cold' they still come out the washer 'warm' -- is that normal?) The only other thing I could do is pre-treat the clothes, but is it really necessary to pre-treat items that just have good old fashion dirt on them? I am understanding that alot of food stains are tough to get out of my daughter's clothes, and for that the sun works miracles, but again, I'm just frustrated because it's just dirt. HELP!

I'd try changing detergent. Is there a pre-soak cycle on the washer? I don't know much about FL'ers yet, my Bosch 500 is due here on Saturday, but when my kids were little, a soak in Biz used to work wonders. That was before the days of Oxyclean (have you tried using the liquid form and spraying it directly on the spot?)but Biz saved many clothes. In fact, sometimes we'd soak something over night in a bucket and then throw it in the machine to get washed. Just make sure you dissolve all the Biz in water BEFORE adding the clothes.
People here rave about Charlie's soap getting out spots. I ordered some to arrive next week, but in the meantime the company offered to send me a sample packet by mail. That' might help to determine if it's the detergent or the machines.

Can you isolate the problem to wash or possible rinses? Just wondering, if the issue might be redepositing of dirt with low water rinse levels.

I personally have not experienced it yet with a new FLs, but it seem like a high possibility. I am a little suspicious of these low rinse levels.

I've had this range since the beginning of August and I REALLY like it. Terrific results with convection bake, roast, and broil as well as conventional modes. Easy to clean and no real "I have to leave the house because the oven is on self-clean" smell. All in all, best range I have ever had. Only problem was in the very beginning when it seemed to have a mind of its own....touch pad wouldn't always respond, light would go on by itself, etc. I thought that the main control board was bad. Bosch sent one of their technicians to the house. Seems that the "professional installers" from Sears had made a 3 wire connection instead of 4 (connected the neutral and ground to the same post). Since then, it has been perfect and I am very happy.

Thanks speedmaster and bsh chris. What you said, along with aliceinwonderland, puts my mind to rest about the dryer. And that's a cool feature I didn't know about - matching the spin speed to the dry cycle. bsh chris, the 700 will wash as well as or better than the 2460, won't it? I'd hate to go backward from what the little one can do. My spouse is disappointed that the LG isn't working out because of the cool factor (lights, etc.), but I can't handle having to wash things twice to get them clean. I'd rather stick with the little Bosch. I have friends who went from top loaders to LG non-steam washers and think they're awesome, but having had the Bosch experience first, I can see the difference. The heater in every cycle just does a better job I think. Also Chris, I talked to a dealer a couple of months back about the 700. He had info and said they were available, but didn't have them on the floor. I still haven't been able to see a set in person. Does that seem unusual to you?

The quick wash is a mode on the 700 rather than a cycle. It shortens the cycle time by between 5 and 15 minutes depending on the cycle. It also has a power wash mode which adds between 10 and 40 minutes to a load depending on the cycle. The heavy duty button on the 500 seems to be the same as the power wash. I did note that the cycles are very slightly longer on the 500(Between 2 and 7 minutes) , I don't know why. On the 500 the quick wash is a set 25 minute cycle that you cannot change the temp. You can add bleach or an extra rinse if you like. The only other differences are that the 700 has a reduce ironing selection that fluffs you cloths more (adds a few minutes) but you could just use Perm Press, it also has a 30 minute prewash that you can add on to your cycles. They both have a 2 hour soak, as well as drain and spin cycles. The 700 has the Aquaguard cycle to waterproof stuff, useful if you're really into camping? If you want to know actual cycle legnths, I have them written down for both machines. I started with the 700 and traded for the 500, there was a problem with the 700 and I did not want to risk a 4 week wait (they are special order at my store). I think they clean about the same, I only had the 700 for 2 days, and just got the 500 today. All the loads I did in each machine have come out great. A little twisting on the Cotton Temp Boost Power Wash cycle in the 700. And the queen beadspread I did in the 500 on delicate came out great, and even with the reduced spin speed it dried much faster than with my old washer. Good luck!

I have a 700 series Nexxt set that is 9 years old. From the photos, the set you are considering looks newer. I know Bosch quit making full sized laundry several years ago (I think they're getting back in it). They've been a good set, but literally, I'm getting ready to order a new set this AM. My set has been moved twice - from VA to AL, from AL to NC now. The only problems I've had with it is that the idiots that "packed" the washer for the move to AL didn't use the proper shipping bolts (that I HANDED to them). Instead they used different bolts that punctured the lining, causing the washer to leak. Thankfully, the moving company was responsible for that repair, because it was pretty pricey (close to the price of a new machine)! My MIL bought a 500 series set not long after we got ours and as far as I know, she's happy with it. I know some others have problems with mold/mildew in their front loaders, but I have never had that problem with this machine (but I also try to leave the door open for an hour or two after using it). I really don't have any complains about it as far as performance. It's been pretty trouble-free in the last 9 years. HOWEVER, if you happen to have a second floor laundry room, I would NOT recommend them (hence the reason I'm replacing them). As mentioned, we've had our set in 3 different houses. In the first house, the set was on the main floor, with a basement underneath the laundry room, and I didn't notice any issues. Last house was single story on a concrete slab, no basement, and no issues. However, this house has a 2nd floor laundry. We've been here a year and candidly, I didn't give much thought to whether it was okay for this set to be on the 2nd floor or not. But I've since learned Bosch only recommends them to be on concrete slabs basically. I have noticed recently that even though we had the interior of the house painted about 6 months ago, the paint where the crown molding meets the ceiling on the main floor is starting to crack under the area of the laundry room. It's been caused by the vibrations from the washer (mine spins at 1200rpms). I'm not sure if it's vibrating more recently, or if I've been paying attention more. Regardless, we've decided that since the set is 9 years old, before we do any damage worse than cracked painted, I'm getting rid of that set. So if you're near the Triad area of NC, I'll make you a MUCH better deal than $1200 for a pair!!!

I have a Bosch 3200 (Pre 500) and have never had this problem. My 18 yo works for a landscaper & mulch and dirt are an everyday occurence. Everything brown or black (mulch) comes out clean without a thought. I also use Tide HE Powder. Sorry I am no help.

I have the bosch 500 for just over a year now and haven't encountered anything simkilar... I use All liquid... to be fair... due to allergies, I always do an extra rinse... but I doubt this is the "answer" to your problem...

are you using enough soap? I've never used powerd but somehow I'm thinking the "scoops" I remember in the obxes of long ago holding much more than 1-2 tablespoons... I typically fill the lid of the liquid bottle about 1/2 of the way to the first line... so about 1/2 of the "normal" load remommended by the company... I rarely see "sudsing" and my wash is clean...

I'd start by playing around with the amount of soap...

We had this problem with our ancient (well, 8 years old) euro Bosch (think Axxis--but we bought before the Axxis came out). Turned out one of the solenoids (sp?) had gone bad and it wasn't letting the proper amount of water in. It was just trickling in, instead of flowing in. Your machine is still under warranty...I'd think about a calling for service. If you can show the service guy some of the stained clothing that might be a help.

Oh, and be certain you get a Bosch Certified repair person.

I would try using more detergent! If your clothing is not getting clean, that would be the first thing to try.

Many people here write about using only 1 or 2 Tablespoons of detergent and getting great results, but everyone has different conditions. I find using about 1/2 of the recommended dose of detergent on a medium sized load works well for me, but that is way more than 1 or 2 tablespoons.

If you think using the recommended dose will cause sudsing problems, start with 1/2 a dose. If they are still not clean, increase the detergent. If they are clean, you can try slightly reducing the detergent until you notice reduced performance.

I have received excellent results with Tide HE powder.

I agree about the detergent. You should use at least 1/4 cup. I would use even more for clothes that have ground in dirt plus the oxy. I think if you will just try this for a load or two you will see a big difference in the cleaning.

BTW Powder detergent works best on dirt, liquids work best on grease. Someone mentioned Biz-it used to be the greatest thing for kids clothes but it has changed companies and now it isn't worth buying IMO. You should try the Charliesoap also. It is a very good product and you use only a small amt.

I have the 6400, previous model to yours. I don't usually use Tide, but when I have, I used up to the solid line for normal loads and to line 1 for large loads. I have moderately hard water. The 30 minute pre-soak is a good idea for muddy clothes. You might try using the "Power Wash" option, it lets in cold water and heats it to the temp selected. I agree, you shouldn't have to pretreat dirt, but I would food stains. Also, I wouldn't use Biz in your machine, it's way too sudsy.
