The new season has started. The Green Team is a father/daughter team. He grew up in Fremont, NE, and lives in Elyria, Ohio now.

I havent watched the show in a few years because I think it does a disservice to the general public and is very unrealistic. These people are eating 1,000-1200 calories a day and exercising 6-8 hours a day. They are at the ranch for around 16 weeks and then I think they are home for 2-3 months before the finale. I did hear Rachel interviewed on tv and she lost 155 lbs in 7 months(which would mean 4 mos at the ranch and 3 at home) ...that's an AVERAGE of 22 lbs. a month. Even Dr. Oz came out and said it is unhealthy to lose at the pace they do....and all his show seems to be about now is the latest weight loss diets/gimmicks. When you see people losing 12,15, 17 lbs in a week and then you get on the scale and see 1 lb, it makes YOU feel like the biggest loser..in that, how come you only lost a lb.? There's no way these people can keep up these routines when they return to their normal lives and are working again so of course they put weight back on. I also read an article a few years ago that what they don't show you is all the injuries they incur because they are pushed so hard from the get-go. You cant take a sedentary 300 lb person and expect them to walk a mile first time out or do 45 minutes at 3.5 on the treadmill, etc. without developing knee, hip and other injuries. I don't find the show inspiring at all because it is so unrealistic.

I totally agree with you. I felt really bad for Adrian and Daphne, although they really did themselves in. They should have just worked really hard and kept quiet until everyone got to know them. I absolutely cannot stand Conda, and to a lesser extent Jeremy. She is a spoiled brat and I cannot tell you how many times I have wanted to reach into the tv and throttle her and her whining voice. She will never, ever be able to keep off her weight, if she indeed loses it. She is an undisciplined emotional wreck, and the whole family is obese so there are years and years of bad habits to overcome. I am about to give up on this show also. It reminds me of the season with really mean girls, Heba and can't remember her name but her husband was Brady the pharmacist.

I was glad she won. ALL of the contestants did very well, in my opinion. My only complaint about the finale is that they wait until the very last second to announce the winner, and then there's not even a couple of minutes for them to let that winner speak, etc. Vannie, you say you slept thru the ending? I always set the recorder to tape it while I watch, because I've been known to do that. I looked at the clock at 9:58 pm eastern....(YES, only two minutes left)...and dozed off till 10:01 !!!! A few wks ago our BL was not aired due to politicians having a debate!! I was so ticked. But our local channel aired BL later on that week, IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT!! Good luck on finding it. Shirley

I felt sorry for the daughter, too. He clearly didn't want to be there, and he wasn't very kind when he made sure to tell her that she lost the least amount of weight than anyone else there. I felt badly for her. Wrong person to take with her to the ranch!

I see one couple is from Oklahoma City. I loved the pink team. Mother Betty Sue was a hoot.

Oh no, I didn't know him. I didn't live in Fremont until 2000. He grew up here, and he's 60 yr. old. I agree, he didn't want to be there. I think he was mean to say what he said too. She just wants her dad healthy.

I couldn't believe he threw it in her face that she lost only 7 lbs. He obviously didnt want to be there and was definitely hindering it for her. I hope she's able to continue on with her weight loss at home. She looked good after the show.

I can't decide which trainer I like better. I love them both. Wonder why they got rid of Barbie?

I enjoyed this new format of couples. It will definitely take teamwork as the father/daughter team demonstrated last night. I think it goes deeper than her just wanting him to be healthier.....it's like she's also trying to establish a good relationship with him. I hope she accomplishes it.

I wasn't going to watch this season but I got hooked again. I thought it was just romantic couples. I like the different types of couples they brought together. I really didn't want to see anyone leave. They did a good job of showcasing all of the couples in the first show so I got a bit attached to all of them, even the Green Team.

I heard they have different editors this time around and it did seem better - less repetition.
