I'm glad this came up - as I have a VERY large stock pot of greens stewing on the stove. It wasn't planned - but just happened. My green veggies suddenly began to overpower my abilities to keep up. Surprising what a 5 day flu will do to a garden that is at it's prime - without attention it needs! Sooooo - yesterday, I grabbed a large milk crate and yanked up every over-due broccoli, cabbage leaf, Chinese cabbage, spinach, carrot top, leek top, and 4 in. long snap pea, washed off the dirt a bit, and threw into the biggest pot, I could find. Then I cleaned out the fridge (after 5 days illness) added some sad looking end-o-season peppers, and cherry toms, 2 half-squeezed lemons, and let her rip! It smells heavenly! Soon will strain and preserve - so appreciated the notes above - but in my delicate condition, think I will freeze this time. Actually, since the beginning, I've been wondering what to do with the "squeezings" - being such a salvager - ya know. Could I possibly take all of these nice-looking, fiber-rich morsels, and after squeezing all of the wonderful juices out of them, spread them on my dehydrator shelves, dry them and powder the results? I should think this would be great mixed into home-made burritos, pitas, roll-up breads, as they would certainly add flavors, and food value. Haven't tried it, but I'll bet somebody out there has, and so would like to hear your adventures. P.S. any pop-ups or added links in my message came from "outer space" I assure you I didn't do it. General Tso's sauce... Chamomile/Lavender hand soap. Envirokidz cereal Ketchup. Pad Thai Brown Rice Pasta Italian chopped salad ---- blue cheese, crumbled feta and fresh mozzarella. I love their caponata. Unsweetened vanilla almond breeze (great for low-carbers). I also use their soaps - body - clothes and dishes.

Oh yeh, filling suggestions. Absolutely anything you would use on a regular bread sandwich will work. It could be roast beef, chicken salad, seafood salad, ham and cheese, ruben, or whatever. I like to include a piece of frilly leaf lettuce with whatever filling I use and let it stick out a little just for visual effect. Also, I cut each sandwich on the diagonal and plate the halves with the cut ends facing out. If they are "to go, of course, they get wrapped snugly in plastic wrap. Accompaniments are a piece of dill pickle and some chips. I've turned out a lot of roll-ups for visitors to take to the beach. I've had some compliments, if I do say so myself. :-) Jim

Annie, I actually don't have a problem with Sebastian choosing to socialize rather then eat, well not with Sebastian anyway. I feel that part of why he is going to school is for the social part. I hate the way the schools devalue eating and socialization. The other problem is the cafeteria, actually it is a cafe-gym-atorium and it is loud and awful. All the kids prefer it when they have lunch in their classroom, at least according to my informal poll. lol, I have often had much with them in the cafeteria and once in the classroom. They were much better at eating while socializing in the classroom. The problem is lunch is when the teachers get a break. I would like teachers to eat with them and have their break during recess. My felling about food is make sure to feel good about everything you serve so it does not matter what they make a meal of. I told a friend of mine when we had 1 year olds, serve them good food and don't pay attention to what is on the floor or still on the tray. So long as you served it it counts. I don't even make my kids take a bite. I tried that once and the gaging etc was not worth it. Plus he had built up that he would not like it. I have told them if it is on their plate and they don't want it, don't talk about it. If they say something is disgusting I will require a bite, ignore it and I am fine. I just hate to have my food insulted ;-) Also they will need these manners for other peoples homes. My kids can have problems in the house of some peers as they are used to a certain level of food. They will not eat frozen pizza, super market rotisserie chicken ... We have friends who eat frozen pizza, when we go over to their house for pizza we bring dough, sauce etc. -Robin
