Range or Sink in Kitchen Island?
Comments (46)Tracey, They are GE Monogram. ZET1 line of oven. Search the appliance thread I found very positive feedback on size, even baking on all racks, 3 rolling racks, can be left in during self clean( most cant), Temp probe and preheat accuracy and looks. The top one is the Advantium 240 speedcook microwave( Halogen light and m/w cooking). Again you will find mostly very positive reviews. So far my GF loves hers as it cooks fast, things are juicey, moist browned etc. The newest version has a 16" turntable that hers is lacking. She has been using them just a few weeks so have no long history with them. We were able to find them both on ebay for about half price if you are patient and check back daily for a while....See MoreHow hateful is a 24' cooktop?
Comments (24)Thanks for taking so much trouble, palimpsest. Yes, a slimmer fridge would be a good idea, but the options hereabouts aren't great--Summit doesn't have any local dealers, for example. To be honest, I think the main reason she's considering a less than 30" oven is that she fell in love with this one (well, actually with its new replacement but I couldn't find that one on the ikea website). If you read the description, it's got an awful lot of features: Wow, I didn't like the overall space much in my kitchen when I lived back there, but I would have really hated a 6'7"" ceiling. Where I live now the bath ceilings are 7 ft and those bother me enough. :) Thanks again for your help. Someone over at ikeafans suggested using one of the other Blum drawers for those top drawers so that the hardware wouldn't be in the way, and that's something else I need to investigate. Comments (28)I don't know where my pics are, but we have three(!) blind corners in our kitchen, 2 of which are angled. One is a small stack of drawers. On the counter, we keep our flour/sugar canisters, and above is a small TV. The other angled corner is a prep counter made of maple, with no cabinet underneath so you can sit and do prep work. Cutting boards are in a rack hidden underneath. We have 32 drawers and a baking sheet pull-out in our kitchen, so wasted space isn't really an issue. Also- we have no uppers at all....See MoreCooktop or sink on island? Wld love to hear from those who've had both
Comments (46)OK... I have been thinking about this for hours and it kept me awake last night. I've been working on it all morning, and here is the latest version. I am pretty excited about this version because I now have a nice landing area/mudroom to come in from the garage area to. I like being able to come into a space other than right into the kitchen. I like the flow a lot better and I like the open airy space in the work portion of the kitchen instead of forcing everything to revolve around windows in front of a dining set that we rarely even use. Some of the measurements are a little off because I completely changed everything. I took a lot of advice from everyone, and I really appreciate your taking the time to look at this and give me feedback. Any other input or advice, please keep it coming! Where should I put that prep sink on the island? Is that OK? More to the right? I think I may need to move the island slightly right to keep 4' off all of the counters. Thank you!...See Morefaleash
