@georgect - I'd be willing to bet the ranch that Elux iron is made by Rowenta. @dragonesse - The B&D Digital Advantage D2030, linked below, is a great iron for the money and has served me as well or better than any Rowenta I have ever owned. And I iron. A lot. I have tailored jackets with this iron and swear by it. Amazon.com sells it too, although the 20% BB&B coupon might be a better deal, so price shop. I am not all that keen on Rowenta irons anymore, as very few models are made in Europe anymore. The ones made in Mexico seem to not hold up or last long. 20 years ago, I had a TOL Rowenta and the water tank leaked, like everyone else's. After that, I refused to spend $$$ and only bought the $50 Rowenta models at JoAnn's when on sale or with a 40% coupon. They've been great irons, too. The Rowenta steam generator iron puts out an amazing amount of steam, but the iron itself doesn't get very hot. I'm not in love with mine. I'll take my B&D #D2030 any day, as it does well in the steam department. As for ironing boards, the Reliable brand is very good but overpriced for a family that does not iron very much. I cannot speak for the other brands at BB&B, as I have not seen them in person and the online ratings are not encouraging. Polder is a good brand, if you can find one. Caryn, I would agree with Luvs....find out first instead of regret later. You might also try taking a really good picture of the board and the label and sending it via email to any antique shop that has an online address or just take the photo to any antique shops in your area. Couldn't hurt. Somewhere in the back of my mind I recall seeing a really great idea of how to use the ironing board without doing any damage to it, I will keep it in my mind and hope it click soon. Have you just tried googling antique ironing boards, if you do the visual or pictures, you should come up with lots of pictures. Belle

I LOVE ironing boards!! I have two wooden ones I use at my craft shows as display tables. In my home, I use one in front of a large window for plants. They are rustic and look great, yet skinny, so don't take up a lot of room. I also have 2 metal ones hanging in the garage that get a lot of use. I set them up as portable potting tables when I am working with my perennials. The dirt falls through the holes and just sweep it up. Then when we have a campfire and the kids want to do hotdogs/marshmallows, etc., they move out into the yard as portable side tables to keep the eats up away from the dog. They are SOOO useful. I also use mine inside at the computer or my scrapbooking table - whenever I need more work space - they can be lowered to be comfortable to reach while sitting at a chair - so one beside my computer desk is sooo handy - my chair just rotates over and it gives me a lot more space when dealing with paperwork. I think ironing boards are one of the world's greatest inventions!
