front entry door facing long hallway, any suggestions?
Comments (4)It's hard to tell from yr picture where the hall bath ends. If it ends behind the toilet, with a nook on the other side, then I think if you just take out the stub of a wall and place a nice sideboard there instead, the hallway will shorten by a few feet. That would also be handy for coming and going in the garage, a place for keys, outgoing mail, etc. and provide a focal point for the eye, instead of the hallway. Unless you make major interior changes, that hallway will still be there. Solatubes, even just one in the middle of the hall, can make it feel much more open. An attractive runner on the floor gives it a sense of a room. Eta: you could also put a small solatube in the windowless hall bath. Comments (23)thanks for the additional comments. For clarification, the "warp is an overall slight warp for the door mostly in one corner, it's not that the plywood interior panel is wavy, it's pretty clean so I think the 1/8 inch plexi will work. I was thinking about using the mastic glue rather than the tape, but I am concerned about removing it if things don't go right. Is there an easy way to remove if I use the mastic rather than tape? I had a cheap mirror placed in the center of the door for about 10 years prior to refinishing and painting my doors, and it held quite well with tape. And it wasn't too difficult to remove. And Joseph, regarding the glass. The door was horizontal on sawhorse legs during the application of the mirror, so glass didn't go anywhere, and I don't have kids, but I appreciate your concern....See Morehome addition - will have two entrances facing front of house

Comments (11)Can you draw a sketch of the layout? I'm not sure I understand when you say you want to move the front door to the front so you enter into the sunroom, but can't because the sunroom opens to another room. Or, are you thinking that you want to enclose the front door stoop, and move the front door out into that enclosure to face front instead of driveway? Your issue there would be zoning, if that kind of enclosed space is too close to the property line....See Morenhb22
