PA Dutch foods galore

If you'd like to try some regional PA Dutch food specialties in a more authentic style than "Amish country" tourist trap buffets, the Kutztown Pennsylvania German Festival is the place to eat from June 27th through July 5th.

It's a celbration of the PA Dutch culture, which is alive and well in rural eastern PA.

They'll have 2000+ locally hancrafted quilts for sale, in addition to unique crafts, children's activities, and waistline stretching snacks and dinners, prepared mostly by church and community groups rather than itinerant vendors.

If you Google Kutztown Folk Festival, it will take you to their website and I'll put a link for a report (including many photos) that I wrote on last year's visit for another board.

This year, I'll be joining 400+ other volunteers to work there, something I've always wanted to do but was unable to until my recent retirement.

If you're within driving distance, it's a fun day trip.

Here is a link that might be useful: A Day at the Folk Festival
